Changes to partner earns on QF

Although in the last iteration SYD-YVR on QF was in 'other' and earned less than SYD-LAX for instance, even though its a longer (and more expensive) route. Wonder if they've bothered fixing that one.

I do believe that Vancouver is now in the same "zone" as Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Every time Qantas brings out a program change...

So has Qantas actually announced this? Has anyone yet received any official communication from Qantas about the changes? I've had half a dozen emails in the last week from Qantas, but none that I recall about earning changes. I've even had an email extolling the virtues of Bose headphones and Dyson stick vacuums. That last one was almost a good earning as mum emailed asking if 71000+$300 was good value. I told her to pay me and I'll get the vacuum - 71000 points for $300 :D

but nothing about earning changes. that I recall.

Assuming AustBT isn't now officially Qantas

It was a really low key announcement...see post #64 (http://www.australianfrequentflyer....-to-partner-earns-qf-71369-7.html#post1328016)

Its in the October points newsletter i got yesterday in the NEWS section as noted above

Link to a site about it Partner Airlines - Qantas

Oh I see it now. Funny thing is I signed up for the credit card earning promo. I noticed the gocatch promo, Almost registered for the double points to the USA but released I couldn't book a flight before 19 October. I even got to the bottom and read about the "free" seat selection. What's that condition called where you don't see something because it's too awful to contemplate?

Or perhaps the "free" seat selection to mask a fee increase was all the spin I could take.

There is a definite reduction in AA flights within the USA up to 400 miles.

In first, currently 40 SC, after Dec 1, 30 SC.

On the flip side, 50 SCs for 250-500 miles, and 60 SCs for 500-750 miles. That's a step up from the current 40SCs for anything under 750 miles.

That's actually a slight SC earn improvement (net) for AA status runners. Now if only QF would enhance the AUD/USD back to parity.

I did not see that.

What I saw was First class earn on partner flights intra USA changed from 0-750 miles getting 40 SC to 0-400 getting 30 and 401-750 getting 40.

LAX-PHX is a nice comfortable (for QFF) 370 miles ...

Bah, you are right Serfty. I missed the intra-USA earn table among all the Simplified Clutter.

It's a bigger seat, but with economy class service (drink in a paper cup). While international aircraft operating as 'Class J' may use international seats, dedicated domestic flights have smaller seats for example 5 abreast on 737 aircraft rather than 2+2, and on the 777, Class J is 8 abreast: JAPAN AIRLINES - 777-300 (JAL Aircraft Collection)

pretty tenuous tbh - this is the reality of domestic business class in Japan. same as with club europe or domestic F in LOTFAP. shouldnt have any bearing on the SC earn for a marketed business class ticket.

I think that Red Roo will be busy at the AFF #9 dinner Saturday night.

Shame I'm flying to Korea at 7:25 Sunday morning from ADL. A quick trip to Cairns might be worthwhile to say hi to Red Roo in person. Even a personal thanks for their recent assistance.

Also shame that the new earning won't apply to my CX flights, as that would gain me an extra 32 points and 20SC. :(

For $10? Club Europe upgrades can be cheap - but we're still talking in the region of about $100 to upgrade to CE, if offered. I don't believe it is marketed as business class, but agree others may have different perceptions.

This is all pretty confusing, I would like it if Qantas built into their calculator the ability to see the old and new earn rates.
Can anyone please give me some feedback on flights from Australia to HKG on CX, are they unaffected?

It would seem that Qantas actually updated the QFF terms and conditions yesterday.

https://www.qantas.com.au/fflyer/dyn/program/terms#jump2

However, there is still a clause saying they will give at least 3 months notice of any changes made by Qantas:

3.2 Qantas Loyalty will use best efforts to advise Members of material changes to these Terms and Conditions and, where such changes will limit Benefits:
(a) where the Benefit is provided by Qantas, to give Members at least 3 months notice;
(b) where the Benefit is provided by a third party, where possible give Members at least 30 days notice.

Why have Qantas ignored their own terms and conditions? They've given about 1 and a half months' notice, and even then I would hardly describe the way in which they've informed their members of the changes as using "best efforts". Hiding a notice at the bottom of an unrelated email is not "best efforts".
