Central for me too. I love a train station with character.
Who says Wolli Creek station has no character?.... :p

Cheers people, good to meet you all, some for the first time others the be re-acquainted.:D

Departed 11pm - Off train at Wolli Creek 11:35. There were about 40 police located at the station. I felt very safe. Short walk to hotel and asleep by Midnight. ...

All, don't take this as confirmed.
Sydney Terminal (Central country platforms) 10.36am departure
Wolli Creek 10.44am pick up.

The remainder is fluid, but looking to be later into Canberra than I expected, TBA.

Matt

Do we need to BYO anything. Chips and dip, nibbly things and/or beverages. Let me know I'm happy to contribute to the cause, and useful to coordinate these things.

Awesome, does that mean there might be photo stops en route? :)

Iirc there will be 4 stops along the way for up to 2 hours each. (I might have that timing wrong)

on the back of another thread doing the rounds do we bring the DSLR + extensive lens kit, the point and shoot or just rely on the iPhone...? :-)

Tempted to bring my DSLR minus the extensive lens kit. I only have 3 cheap lenses :'(

I'm tossing up between the ultra wide and a 50 or ultra wide and the 17-55, I think the 50 with a cropped sensor is a bit too long for in the train though!

Button lens is good for on board, pipe lenses can stay at home.

50mm for inside might be a bit too long but we are getting off the train aren't we?

Well I guess I can save on carry on space since all I have are a 18-105, 50 and 55-200 on a crop lol.

My 17-55 will do the trick very nicely thank you. And it has the benefit of having shot BAM1749 previously.

With all the photographic artillery going I will leave my point and shoot at home

Solid strategic retreat Major. You'll be Colonel in no time!

That being said, there's no harm in bringing it along, a p&s doesn't take up much space and you might end up capturing the most epic moment of trip.

I'm glad I waited - QF & VA have sales on again :).

This is also good timing for me now that I can confirm my attendance. I've booked the return flight QF795 CBR-MEL on a sale fare and will use points for a Classic Award seat on a MEL-SYD flight (and earn SC at the same time). I will book my hotel tomorrow.
