The station is a bit quiet when there aren't any trains coming in. Perhaps consider parking nearer to the apartments just up the road, or an idea may be to see if there is parking at the Diplomat Hotel, also just up the road.

Thanks for that - Diplomat is a good idea.

Is there any interest for dinner/drinks on Friday night in Sydney for the locals & the out-of-towners who arrive for Friday night?

Not for me, I'm already catching up with a friend for dinner that night.

We don't land until 20:30 and then have to get to Central to the hotel, but as it really will only be 19:30 (Qld time) probably a few night caps could be arranged - somewhere around George St / Broadway? Eve's is very handy.

We are on VA633 departing CBR on Saturday at 08:05, arriving SYD 09:05.
We'll then be driving home on Sunday as there are no flights to our neck of the woods :(.

What is the Diplomat Hotel like for overnight accommodation ? As there is now 4 of us going , I need to get a family room and the Diplomat seems very convenient at a half decent price to Canberra station. Whilst i will be flying back to Sydney on Sunday as i need to get to work in the afternoon , the other 3 in my family are get the train back to Campbelltown .

The only time I have stayed at the Diplomat must have been 15 years ago!
Crowne Plaza is now our hotel of choice - I always get an upgrade, free drink vouchers (and a small plate of canapés) and BOGO breakfast (and dinner) with the PP card.

Sorry if it has been mentioned and I've missed it but what are the drinks arrangements on the train? All BYO? Or buy on board?

Cheers!
PS. If BYO, then is suitable refrigeration available for beer/white?

It might be worth you looking into one of the serviced apartment providers in Kingston which would be a walk from the train station and certainly big enough for 4.

Please add me to Rydges (very good deal on Agoda via VA for $144 for the cheapest room, not many left) and VA647 CBR - SYD.

EDIT: I've just booked a room within staggering distance of Central for Friday night. I have my work Xmas party that afternoon & then will go to the city to meet up with any early out-of-towners or locals as per my previous post.

I'll be staying on George St near Central.

Lucky you're not coming this week end, the Canberra hotels will all be full of honeymooners. :)
