Fellow travellers, some details are now being firmed up, times have been pushed back slightly and a variation to the program, but we are leaving Sydney and ending in Canberra.

Sydney Terminal depart 10.48am (possibly platform 2) please check the trains carefully, there is another similar looking train leaving at 10.36am and heading along the south coast line as we are. Make sure you are boarding a red car with the rego BAM1748 or BAM1741 and the flat car with container. (rego can be found at the carriage mid poind between the windows)

Wolli Creek 11.00 to 11.01am. (If you are here at 10.50am you will see the 'other' train pass through non stop, don't panic we are following)

We will then stop at Thirroul from 12.26 to 13.32 so we can visit the nearby cafe or burger shop for lunch.

We will run through to Goulburn for a stop and Tarago for a pub visit and then on to Canberra. I'm not sure of the arrival time but be prepared for 10pm. Depending on running we might skip either Goulburn or Tarago, however it is single track so a good chance we will have to wait for the opposing Explorer passenger movement from Canberra and take advantage by wandering the to the Loaded Dog for a visit.

I will put some drinks (beer, soft drink and wine) on board this coming week, please feel free to bring your preferred choice of drinks or snacks. We will have a couple of tubs with ice for drinks. There is no charge for anything consumed on board and my barmaid Charlie will be serving in 1748.

As a 'donation' amount, I think around a $100 per adult would seem reasonable but of course larger amounts ar most welcome and I'll come through and collect once we leave Wolli Creek.

Please feel free to PM with me any questions.

Matt

The Plans sound great Matt, as is the case when I travelling for leisure I'm happy long as we get from point A to Point B eventually!

Is anyone going to be picking up supplies between SYD Airport and Sydney Terminal?

And shall we perform a pickup from each gate as AFF'ers arrive? We could make a proper signboard and all...... :P

I forget how chilly CBR is compared to the rest of the country, even Melbourne wasn't terribly bad last week!

It's currently 11 degrees outside here in South Canberra with a promise of around 4 by morning. Could be worse, It's -5 at Thredbo and they go some snow yesterday...

Even if the day time temp promises 30 plus a warm top is a must for when the sun goes down.

There's almost a case for a T2 and T3 pickup run looking at the pickup groupings in post #1...

It'll have to be separate welcome parties though. There is no way everyone is getting through security that quickly :P Dibs being in T3, T2 is just a circus at the best of times. xD

I'll be grabbing supplies Friday afternoon. I'm happy to take orders and deliver to central on Saturday morning if someone can meet the taxi. Alternately Dan Murphy might deliver to respective hotels which might be of convenience to some.

I'm staying basically across the road from Central so if you need an extra pair of hands, let me know.

Awesome effort gents! I'll have a quick hunt about and see if I need to enlist you :)

Thanks for the details Matt. I am looking forward to this.

I will bring some beverages and snacks for the ride, however it will be limited to what I can take on the plane. Home made things may be hard to bring compared to packaged stuff from the supermarket.

I know we will be eating and drinking all day, but 10pm suggests there may be a lack of restaurant/food options in Canberra. Therefore is the plan to have "dinner" at the pub in Goldburn or Tarago?

Yes, the idea is a meal stop at either Tarago or Goulburn.

Maybe we could call ahead towns along the way and have them meet the Bam express with food!

Great - Thanks

LOL, at a minimum we should probably warn them that 35 AFFers are coming and to put extra staff on the Platinum Priority beer taps.

The Loaded Dog at Tarago does meals from 1830 - 2030. Mum and dad had dinner there on Friday night and enjoyed it.

Looking like a warm day so beers outside might be the best bet.

Well QF562 just got cancelled... And the only other jet leaving for SYD leaves at 6.45am... Do you think QF will play nice and let me fly CBR-MEL-SYD on jets? Or get a refund and jump ship to VA.

Not looking forward to 12C on the DH8C they've put me on, was looking forward to ticking off the 734 off my list of QF aircraft flown.

*Paging puppysparkes* Would love to know what the outcome for you turns out to be.
