Sadly, I am afraid I will be a no show. I hope you all manage to get there to actually catch the train and have a great time tootling to CBR.

I'm (and barmaid Charlie) hoping for a hot day, makes the ice cold beer and open windows more enjoyable.

And here's hoping there's some Diet soft drinks as well.

Am so looking forward to the train trip and great company.

Well QF562 just got cancelled... And the only other jet leaving for SYD leaves at 6.45am... Do you think QF will play nice and let me fly CBR-MEL-SYD on jets? Or get a refund and jump ship to VA.

Not looking forward to 12C on the DH8C they've put me on, was looking forward to ticking off the 734 off my list of QF aircraft flown.

*Paging puppysparkes* Would love to know what the outcome for you turns out to be.

I was bumped to QF 1484 but am yet to "agree" to the proposal. I specifically selected the jet service over the Havilland. I'll check again for a jet service and call if there's one available.

I was bumped to QF1484 as well and also chose QF562 for the 764, unfortunately the only other jet service on CBR-SYD that day is QF560 at 6.45am (or thereabouts)...

Edit:

So I called QF and manged to get rerouted CBR-MEL-SYD. Managed to get a 3 hour layover in MEL to catch a 763 over a 738 and still have enough time to explore the airport.

I will now be joining others on QF815 CBR-MEL and then QF462 MEL-SYD

Feel free to BYO. The last time we did this, it was a BYO type affair (I know i'm bringing what I want to drink so i'm set).

As I'll be in ADL the night before I'll see if I can't get a few decent reds... If not I'll try and sneak a few from the VA lounge :p

Theft is not smiled upon from the lounge.

Not to mention they've not had decent red since a month or two after the re launched the lounge.

Meh - I rate Pinot generally slightly above Merlot ... bleah! Definitely not worth getting blackballed for ...

Try an *amazing* Merlot like the Happs Merlot from WA. It's my favourite wine. I did not like Merlot until I had theirs.

I did use the term "generally".

As for Merlot, historically it has generally been used as a filler in blends that require a bit of "flavour".

I guess I do have some prejudice being basically "weaned" on "big" Riverena reds.

Anyhoo, this is off topic, so back to the train trip ...

I wouldn't steal from any lounge. In fact I would advise against taking the bottle away from the serving station. It varies between states, but there are liquor licensing implications, not to mention the airlines own policies... We are lucky that they allow self-service wine, please don't abuse the privilege...

If you ask nicely I will bring some wine for you from my cellar, which will probably be of better quality and also avoid getting anyone into trouble.

Enjoy - in the 80's Pinot was something to be served chilled ...

Some modern producers are reviving this tradition with their tasting notes for the softer "drink now" Pinots.

I actually had a wonderful Pinot Rose from NZ recently. Very light - an excellent "summer day" wine.

Back On Topic...

What is the situation with glassware / cups? Should we all bring some plastic cups or will there be a stock on-board?

Reminder for any Sydneysiders that there's trackwork on the North Shore (buses Hornsby - Chatswood via Gordon) & Bankstown (buses Sydenham - Bankstown).

Lucky that it wasn't the following weekend as there is major trackwork due to commisssioning of signalling & points around Auburn.

Just as long as the glassware isn't required for chateau cardboard to be dispensed in!
