Is anyone else picking up beers from the hotel next to central?

Also I've never used a VA lounge on arrival, is it as easy as showing my BP at the desk again?

I'll bring a bit up with me but may also get a bit from that place...just see how things look (and weigh!) when I pack my carry-on tonight.

medhead - looks like we have been bumped to E90 (if we wernt already) which makes me very happy! Hopefully its one of the refurbed ones.

I've just realised you may not have lounge access in ADL tomorrow morning. I've got a spare spot, should get to the airport around 5am, with luck. I'll PM my mobile.

Coffees are now served in paper cups ...

Last month I got glass in OOL but paper in MEL, bizarre!

I guess we go in and try our best! Echoing others I've never seen syd terribly busy on a Saturday morning

By any chance, do you know what time it opens in the morning? I'm keen to grab some cider.

Are any still planning on joining at Wolli Creek?

Now the departure is later, I plan to start from Central.

I'm so glad I decided to stay overnight in the city. I'm gladder yet that I'm one block from Central.

I've been downtown & at the Quay & now back near Central.

For anyone on the Darling Harbour side of Central (ie on the other side of the station), I have a couple of alternatives.

The bottlo inside the Mountbatten Hotel (701 George St, cnr Ultimo Rd, opposite KFC) also opens at 0900.

There's a limited range of beer, wine, spirits & breezery type drinks.

Edit: Also across from Central on the George/Pitt/Quay intersection is the Crystal Palace Hotel (789 George St, next to Rabin Footwear). Wider selection than the hotel I mentioned above. Me personally, I'd come here. It's within a 9 iron of Central (country side) & the Railway Square bus interchange. It's also open at 0900.

Thanks for the heads up erk, so you reckon that one would be easiest to get to? Is access to the country platforms difficult?

Good find. https://maps.google.com.au/maps?q=c...492,151.204984&spn=0.005023,0.010568&t=m&z=17

Probably a better bet than The Aurora if you're coming in from that side or if getting off the suburban platforms. Just look for the Devonshire St tunnel exit and hang a right.

Country platforms are up the ramp marked as Railway Square on the map link attached.

The Crystal Palace is on the same side as the country platforms. You'd walk out the arch near platform 1, turn left, follow the paths to the street & then the hotel's across the road.

Coming into Central by train, head towards the Eddy Ave exit or follow any sign that says country trains.

Great news, I daresay this will be where I'll be heading for my beer supplies in the morning.

Bag packed, AFF Tag added for enhanced visibility to fellow AFF'ers at the airport, taxi booked and alarm set

Now I just need to attempt to get some sleep......

I'm planning to get to OOL at 0500, VA website states that the lounge opens 45 minutes prior to first departure but on my last VA500 it opened an hour prior. I hope that's still the case!

If someone watches our bags, a few of us could go to the bottlo together sans luggage.

See all of you soon!

The cars are due into Central at 9.36am. I'll be there to unlock them so people can leave their bags and grab a coffee if they want.

Don't forget, choose the correct train, the other will be there as well and be leaving only 10 mins ahead of us.........
ours will have one red locomotive and two blue and silver ones.

Do we need a tripod? In case we feel the urge to take a group selfie infront of the train or something hahaha

Three Loco's? More power to us!

So BAM1741 or BAM1748 and we'll be good?

As I've not met any of you folks before I'll let you know I'm sporting the wildest of red beards at the moment, you won't be able to miss me.

If you have one & seeing as though you're local, it couldn't hurt to bring one unless you read otherwise.
