I went through the process again, and got "conditionally approved", got an email this time as well.

I love the bit about "please let your HR department know we are going to call, and give them permission to confirm your employment and salary details". You'd think they'd know by know that even if an employee "gives permission", employers still aren't allowed to give out this information under the privacy act.

Hi,

Having used the Citibank free international travel insurance I can tell you that the T&C's are NOT available on their website. You need to call Citibank on 132484 (I think?) and they will email you the T&C's.

I emailed them to find out where the T&C were and they are on the site but about 5 layers (clicks) deep... sheesh, talk about making it hard to find... They require you to pay for your trip with the card or with points i think redeemed through their awards program to get the complimentary insurance, can't use it for trips from qff points redeemed through Qantas i think...

hmmm, thinking aobut this one, but just wondering how many cards i can have at the one time....

Approved. That has to be some sort of record. 3 hours 45 minutes from submission to approval.

What I don't like about the T&C is that it doesn't specify when the points will be credited. Expect delays.

Has anybody found info on when the bonus points will be credited. I looked all through their website and found nothing.
Without any time frame given in T&C I'm a bit sceptible about signing up, being charged the annual fee only to wait for what may be forever for bonus points.
Or, has anybody applied for this card (not sure when the promo started) and has already been credited the 50,000 points

It probably will be OK if you're not in a hurry to accrue these points and are willing to spend 5-10 minutes writing up a letter of complaint to the bank if you don't get them.

Well I was surprised to receive this email yesterday:

Your Citibank electronic statement is now available at citibank.com.au.

You are able to save or print a copy for your records.

I haven't even received the card yet!

Me neither. Awfully sloppy. No T&C's right at hand, no idea of when the points will be credited. This is classic Citi. I'm tempted just as a buy in for relatively cheap points but I don't know if dealing with Citi is something I really want to do.

As you, I'd like to know if anyone has their points or has a reference/link on the site to give an idea of when they'd be credited.

Not sure if this has been asked, however are these bonus points only fro QFF or can they be transferred to other airline FF such as KrisFlyer?

Its QFF only. Due to the fact you have to register for the QFF program which costs $50 extra.

If you apply and do nothing you'll get Citi Rewards, if you apply and ask to join QFF when you activate they will charge you an extra 49$ and your points will be QFF - I don't believe other airlines programs are part of the deal, though you may be able to do something with Citi Rewards ... I have not checked.

But that does not answer the question.

Is it no 50K Points unless you pay the $49....

50K to KFF would bea lot more attractive.

My belief, having skimmed over the promotion, is that you get 50K free points regardless. Its the nature of the points thats the question.

250$ = 50K Citi points,
250$+49$ = 50K QFF points

Had a quick look at the Citi Rewards web site. Seems you can transfer Citi Rewards to KrisFlyer but, as is normal for Citi, no details of the conversion rate or of any minimum balance requirement. I'm sure if you called these things would be made clear. I'd be pretty surprised if it were 1:1 transfer.

Well for my circumstances and redemptions 1 KFF point = about 2 QFF points....so option A please ;)

Oh sure, I'm not necessarily disagreeing with that - but its such a shame Citi doesn't make it easy on us by quoting the conversion. If it were 5:1 or something silly then the deal wouldn't be good at all.

Got the approval forms in the mail yesterday and then jumped through the ID hoops this morning.

With luck I should see an actual card in a week.

I received a slightly different offer in the post today. (Interestingly addressed to "The Householder")

"How would you spend 60,000 Citibank Rewards Points?"

"If you apply and are approved for your Citi Platinum Credit Card before 31 March 2011, you'll receive 60,000 bonus Citibank Rewards points when you make your first purchase on your Citi Platinum Credit Card."

No mention anywhere of the Citibank Qantas rewards program though.
