Has anyone applied under the 60k bonus points offer and opted in for the Qantas rewards? If so, did you still receive any bonus points?

Does anyone know when you have to elect to enrol in Citi Qantas Rewards?

On the application form, the only rewards option was Citi rewards with no Qantas option.

Thanks!

Passed the $1,000 spend requirement in my first cycle but only the points were posted, no bonus points...

I spent over $1K in the first month, and got the 50K points with the first lot of standard points.

Dammit, 1 pleasant phone coming up

Or 2..

First guy said i wasn't eligible for the bonus points because i hadn't done a balance transfer.. annoyingly i didn't have the terms and conditions up to prove him wrong, so that phone call ended.

Second girl said that it takes 4-6 weeks to post bonus points from first transaction  which would be about now..

It was only when i asked about my points posting that i figured out the reason why the bonus hadn't come through... I got 700 odd points flick across after $1,500 spend on the card, i asked them to explain. Then got told the annual fees don't earn points (fair enough), and also several bill payments which i had in the month didn't earn points either... Didn't know that, I will for the future though.

So i figured that you have to spend $1,000 worth of eligible purchases, not just $1,000 worth of paying for things in order to release the bonus.

Which also affects anyone who's paying your tax bills with this card........ I'd imagine you won't earn points

Has anyone confirmed this either way? Are tax office payments eligible earning transactions on the Citi Rewards programs?

You can transfers these bonus CR points to other FF programs also, such as KrisFlyer. You just dont get the 1:1 ratio though. 60k points equates to 40k KF points I believe.

Would appreciate other AFF members opinions on the valus of the QFF vs SQ points. For me on s atright 1:1 basis SQ would be a clear winner based on lower redemption rates and better availability. Appreciate points are worth diferent to all but would quite like a straw poll as to how people see relative value between Krisflyer and QFF. Should note we are mainly interested in overseas travel, you can get domestic flights so cheap I usually won't bother spending my points that way.

Hey everyone, FYI I applied for this card under the 50000 points offer. I received the card today and just rung to activate. I asked them to confirm the offer that I received and they said that I would receive 60000 upon first spend, rather than the 50000 after $1000 spend, so not sure what's going on there. Will wait and see what actually happens I guess!

Sounds like you'll be in the citirewards side of things. Which is different to Qantas frequent flyer points.. If you wanted the QFF points, i'd be ringing back because they have to activate that if you want it otherwise your defaulted into citirewards

Hi Craigie, I should have mentioned, the lady on the phone specifically said that the points would be Qantas, even read me a speil about how by choosing to pay the extra $49 for Qantas program that I would no longer be able to participate in CitiRewards. Of course I have heard Citibank customer service can't be trusted!

Sorry Robbe, i thought because they said 60,000 points you were still in citirewards.. So sounds like you're all good. It'll be 50,000 and you'll have the spend $1,000 on eligible purchases.. dem the terms and conditions ;)

I've already had a couple of conversations with the customer service, they really don't know much unfortunately..

Hi everyone,

Just wondering how long it took for you guys that got the card from the day you applied till the card turned up?

I applied on the 25th March, was conditionally approved the next day but am still waiting to receive anything...

Regards,

Jason.

I was conditional before I closed the web page. Waited about a week, then the phone calls start - they wanted drivers licence, medicare card, payslips, bank statements, blah, blah. Hmm. A little too much information there and I refused on several counts.

No other cards have yet cared and have been happy to do their own checks and presumably believe whatever I say on the application form.

Anyway, one way or another, I got 'accepted' for Gold ... grrr. I think I asked for too small a credit limit (spoken of this on the 60K thread).

Has anyone applied for this offer, received the bonus points but not done a balance transfer?

I'm getting told i must do a balance transfer in order to get the bonus. I read the terms and conditions while i was on the phone and then I was told the terms and conditions have changed since i applied thats why i'm seeing different...

I can see why they make people do this. You balance transfer money in, then you make $1,000 worth of purchases, then when you make repayments you pay off the balance transfer amount first which then leaves you open to interest on your purchases, unless you pay the whole lot off in one hit... Smart from citibank, Hugely annoying for me and the time i've spent on the phone......

Yep. I never did a balance transfer at all. Never have done one ever.

Got the points no issue. In fact will be killing the card in a matter of weeks.
