How were they credited? When exactly did you provide Cth Bank with your QFF number?

Met spend criteria on May 31st.

Called CBA on Sept 8th to sort out eligibility.

Around the same time through their awards website I registered to have CBA points linked to QFF (which cost $10, non-refundable under the original promotion). I didn't realise I had to do this until I checked and found I wasn't linked up to QFF points. I had previously registered for points to be automatically transferred to QFF when I had another card with CBA but had cancelled that card prior to signing up for this card & promotion. I had wrongly assumed the link would remain.

Subsequently I found that because I hadn't signed up to have CBA points automatically transferred to QFF points, all the points I earned meeting the spend criteria did not earn me any QFF points.

Interestingly a CBA rep told me today that it's Qantas who is paying for the promotion and Qantas who is paying for the $249 annual fee to be waived/refunded.

I can't see anywhere on their website where this can be done.

The original offer claimed:

'By applying via this page you will be opted in to Qantas Frequent Flyer Direct'

but this appears to be incorrect.

Found it!

Had to use the search field to find it. They clearly don't want to make it easy for anyone!

Got approved this morning! I didn't get an email or SMS, just noticed it after checking the My Applications page on NetBank.

So that was back in May.
No bonus points or fee refund so far. I sent CBA an email about it, asking for compensation on top of the promised bonus points.
Their first reply was: card not under ANY offer, please provide a link to the offer page (expired, now shows not found).

Second reply: Application was not done through the offer page (not true because I followed the link and it then went into Netbank), await response from their offers team.

I'm taking this to FOS if they hold still on this and don't offer a decent compensation for this stuff up - which is entirely theirs.

Based on this I'm glad I got them to confirm in writing that I had applied via the provided link and am eligible for the offer (assuming I meet the required spend).

Called to cancel with the aim of getting the earn rate doubled for the next 2 months (as others have done). The best I could do was 5,000 one off QFF points to keep the card. Rep was pretty pushy to not cancel a card that was "essential free".

Hardly seems worth it.

Better off to cancel and get on another offering. The longer you stay with the Commonwealth, the longer it may be you have to wait before you can reapply for their new offerings.

Was just told over the phone that the points and fee refund only applies to people who were approved for Platinum cards. Asked to cancel the gold card I received but the cancellation team's gone home for the day :/

If that's the case, why does CommBank seem to be playing hard ball?

Like many others, I've yet to see a fee refund or the bonus points. I gave them a call about it last Friday, but haven't heard anything yet.

Agreed. But I'll wait for the 5,ooo points first!

So I rang up today to cancel this card, as the points earn isn't that awesome and I'm switching across to AMEX via the massive offers they currently have. Anyway CBA immediately offered me 10,000 points to keep the card - which I was a sucker and gleefully accepted. Apparently I'm easily distracted by shinny things! Oh well.

Same here bluey, but it's 10,000 CBA rewards points that trasfer as 5,000 QFF points.

Unless they said "we can give you 10,000 CBA reward points", I would define the offer being QFF points. We are officially enrolled with QFF / $10+ charge.

If infact the points downgraded, I would complain.

1) to them
2) F.O.S

Perhaps, but they said a letter woud follow to confirm. The devil will be in the details, but for me, it was clear over the phone that it was 10k rewards points that woud be 5k QFF points.

Hmmm interesting point, not one that had even entered my mind.

The letter arrived today and the wording kind of implies you might be right. Suppose I'll have to give them a ring again, doh!

Does it say anywhere that the offer is only for new customers? I couldn't see it so thinking of cancelling my current CBA Platinum to apply for the new offer..

It doesn't explicitly mention it.

I say if they can randomly and arbitrarily raise interest rates, they deserve whatever is coming to them.

Go for it!
