Commonwealth Platinum Awards - 40k Qantas Points. $10 fee.

Not yet. Received card in early June and achieved minimum spend within couple of weeks. Expecting to see points in September.

Just a word of warning. I applied for this card on 29 June. At the time, it said quite clearly "You will be automatically opted-in to Qantas Frequent Flyer Direct as your rewards program (an annual $10 opt-in fee applies)" - I took a PDF of the webpage as I was applying.

I got the card in early July and spent the minimum $500 within a week, and received my first statement last week. However, no QF points have shown up - not even the 1.25 pts per $ on my spend so far. I just checked my account online - I haven't been charged the $10 QFF opt in fee, and my rewards balance shows >1,000 CBA awards points. So I phoned up, and was told "that's because you haven't opted in to the QFF awards program". I pointed out that the website said I would be "automatically" opted in, and he said "yes, that's right, once you call us up we will automatically opt you in"! I kid you not. So in other words, it seems it is not automatic - or at least not in all cases. Therefore, to anyone who has not seen the $10 QFF charge show up, and who has not received any QFF points, I strongly suggest you call them up to check if you have been opted in.

Anyway, I'm now opted in - and he claimed I will get the bonus points within 3 months. I specifically asked if I need to spend another $500, since I'm only being opted in today. He said no, definitely not, I've already met that criterion. However, I'm not convinced. I'm considering directing another $500 of spend onto this card just to be safe.

What happens to your CBA award points?

When I called to ask why the annual fee hadn't yet been credited, I was told this was because I hadn't fully met the T&Cs by, specifically, activating the 'Lock, Block and Limit' settings. I suspect others may be unaware of this requirement.

They also mentioned the 40K points bonus depended on this.

I also got the $20 bonus for being in the first 5000 (I think it was 5000) to activate the 'lock, block and limit' feature. Annual fee refunded over a month ago, but still waiting on 40,000 points. The earned points (from the $500 spend) were given quickly (maybe 4-8 weeks ago).

I have had the annual fee refunded and been charged $10 for qantas programme. I called and opted in to qantas when I received the card. No bonus points as yet. Have received standard points though. I didn't do anything by way of "lock, block and limit"...

They are being converted to QFF points - or so he said. I was somewhat surprised about that, TBH.

EDIT: the QFF points (converted from the CBA points) arrived this morning. So at least I know I definitely am opted in to QFF now. Whether I am already qualified for the 40,000 bonus points is another matter though - still not entirely convinced about that.

40k bonus points received for one of our cards today. Spend made 26 May and points posted on 3rd statement or 2.5 months from qualifying spend.

Nice. When did you make the $500 spend?

Sorry for the delay in replying but I had to check the facts.

Purchase was 02/06

QFF Fee was applied 03/06

This statement covered the full $500 min spend. So it has been a while.

CBA seems so slow! I met minimum spend without opting in for the $10 QFF as some others in the thread did also.. Then met minimum spend again straight after realising my mistake and am still waiting on the points and the $249 refund. I'm new to points collecting but am surprised at how slow CBA is with points crediting and refunding the fee considering how much I value the speed of transactions showing up in their app/ on netbank - immediately vs around 3 days with ANZ and Virgin Money for example.. Which is why it will always be my main bank. But both ANZ and Virgin Money have been really quick to post points, don't bother charging and refunding a fee, and also approved the applications much quicker.

Awesome. So just over two months. Better than the three they are mentioning.

Dates for me...

QFF Fee applied 26/05
Spend met by 27/05
Annual fee waived 08/06 (wealth package)
Noraml QFF points for spend posted 10/06

3rd card statement came 10/08 but no 40k points yet.

I definitely confirmed the promo when opting in to QFF so I expect them to come sooner or later but looks like it could be as long as the full 3 months for those waiting.

Bonus points arrived for me yesterday on my 3rd statement.

Dates:
QFF Fee applied 19/05
Spend Met 06/06
Annual Fee refunded 07/07
Bonus Points posted 19/08

So all up around 3 months
