Re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Would anyone know what the date of the Qantas email(s), as well as the subject heading(s) were that anounced about the ASA no longer allowed online, fee waived when it's booked over the phone?

Made another call to check / verify costs/points for 2 people, with todays rate quoted 128,000 points and $459.72 (tax's) each per person (total tax: $919.44).

My previous call quoted 256,000 points and $667.32 in taxes (for 2 people total?)

Destination / date used for both quotes is: July 9th, 2014 between Melbourne & New York (Via L.A.). QF 93 to Melb / QF 107 from LA to NY.

See post #975 here

I did a screen capture, otherwise I would not be able to recall it.

So two months on MASA ASA whatever you want to call them is still a mess off line, talk about a way to pxx_X off members.

Some would say... one more month to go.

But, what do I know ?

Firstly, love your commitment Limewood, I can see you for one are not a happy camper, but let me tell you this, burn all your points to generate some status if possible, from then on fly with the cheapest on the day...

More times than not you will be flying with someone other than Qantas... so its a great opportunity to try out the competition.

Don't get sucked into the Loyalty Bull$hit such as "you're the reason we fly"... Of course we are the reason they fly, without us and the revenue we bring their business, the airline will be doomed without us.

But other than our cash, why should Qantas really care about us...? By the suggestion of removing the MASA's they clearly think that only a small minority will care... in other words they don't care about you / me / us.

Likewise they will not care if you take your business elsewhere as their belief is that you / me / us are a minority anyway and influence stuff all to their bottom line.

For me it is clear, despite what their advertising says...

Here is our product, take it or leave it...simple really

The only un-answered question is, if Qantas is wrong, and the removal of MASA's altogether cause significant damage to their loyalty program, how much will it cost them to bring people back...?

For all we know, they might have plans to remove their loyalty program if it delivers the profit they demand, for this they already have a name, Jetstar and for me this is the biggest threat to the Qantas brand. In the world of Jetstar, you pay for everything up front, and at a premium price, this would also include loyalty status. Hence it is in Qantas best interest to follow the path with the orange cancer... if enough people don't care then that is their path they WILL follow and drive the returns the share holders demand.

Remember... Shareholder Loyalty > Customer Loyalty

Re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

I've been SG for couple years, couple months back went WP, have till now been a 100% loyal customer to Q but I am just so disappointed like many of us are about the ASA online removal, I'm thinking of using all points on a trip to Europe as a classic at this point - and then looking elsewhere.

To date no one has the balls to tell us where this all heading or if they will bring them back online or not, they've been asked enough times, I hate being kept in the dark and would never treat my online customers this way.

While I have nothing against Red Roo, its all good and well to offer accolades to those that have done or said something good about Q or upped a status rank or require a bit of assistance but he/she also needs to find out and answer important questions, your either the rep here or your not, an excellent example is on a huge Whirlpool forum where the Australia Post rep answers all questions.

I'm with you Limewood here is the answer from today's melb AFF lunch..

Re: Qantas Loyalty MEL lunch (03SEP13) attendees thread

Pre dessert discussion ...

*ASA's are here to stay for the "foreseeable future", but by telephone only ...

even that posted on this thread would have been something...or is Red Roo too scared to put words down in black and white???

At least that is something, if I was there I would have asked the Q brass "why did you remove ASA's online? and do you know how pxx_x off your customers are in not only the call up lottery but the inconvenience of it all?.

Re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Because their booking system was completely re-done and the main goal was cash bookings and other things, not points bookings that earn points. They had priorities and ASA's weren't at the top, which is quite understandable.

I'd imagine ASA's were good value because the old bookings system gave access to classic buckets when it shouldn't have, as I'm sure we all know. I'm sure that wasn't intentional, just a failing of a system from before ASA's. Now they've fixed the system, to bring them back you'd have to basically break what you've fixed.

And from the lunch: "mASAs will not be returning to the website". That answer was definitive.

The question is are Marginal ASA's staying? Normal priced ASA's aren't worth it...

Well I'm done, thanks not Qantas.

Now to burn all those points.

Given its only those that are available by telephone only, the question has been answered!

Re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Be interested in knowing how different the call centres screens are to the joe public website.
If you can display on one system, it can't be that hard to do it publicly.

Re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Personally i don't care about any other airline has, its principal, I do not like this excellent easy to use feature being taken away all of a a sudden without being told why, then when asking its a stone wall.

I have a video of Stephanie Tully addressing these issues - but I have to find a way to post it (place to host it?). Now that is a challenge for an IT-phobe.

Who wants to help me
