One point with this silly argument I do not understand is I have been reading on AFF for 2-3 years now how cheap Any Seat awards are and how people have been exploiting them to earn status.

It is a valid way of earning status. Just like YUPPs are valid. Just like bouncing around Asia on cheap business fares is valid.

For some people, one way works better than the others, but that doesn't mean other ways are the work of the devil and need to be terminated, err, decommissioned :).

Unfortunately that is not for me and you to decide.

If the loopholes are tightened then the loopholes are tightened and people need to find new loopholes which I am sure are not too far away.

Classic case in point is people flying to SIN on Saturday and returning Sunday. ;)

Jeez, this must be the sort of stuff which makes Red Roo and Qantas really take AFF seriously. (Sarcasm)

Rumours of changes to ASAs, everybody running around like the world is about to end, piling rumour on speculation on 'best guess', emailing Qantas executives, and when it's denied and the 'end of the world' date passes without cataclysm, the rumour springs up again, more fishwife gossip, some members step in and hint that they know the facts but can't reveal them (ego trip alert), more pleas to Red Roo followed by more denials but that's still not enough to make people just 'STFU'.

Honestly, do you lot have any idea how this must look from to Qantas? Right about now they're rolling their eyes and making the Red Roo's toss a coin to see who has to deal with AFF's petty little whinges and worries this week (the loser gets AFF duty!) while Qantas tries to get on with the job of running an airline and dealing with serious people who have serious concerns!

This sort of nonsense, picking up this tired thread again and again despite it being denied several times already, makes AFF look laughable, like a bunch of schoolkids having a tanty in the sandpit, instead of being taken like a 'serious' community of travellers and frequent flyers.

well. I hope you react the same way to a few blokes in the corner of the pub chewing the fat about what is wrong with the world.

(and then quietly slink out the front door and ride off on your high horse)

:)

It's a forum. People discuss things on a forum. No need to take the high moral
ground. It is what it is.

For me it has little to do with any potential change - rather the way the change may or may not have been handled. We have Qantas staff (reservations) saying one thing, and the PR department saying another. We also have no reply from an email to Ms Grant. Not that Ms Grant has an obligation to respond, but one would assume she has been given advance warning of the discussion on this board and the sensitivities of not furnishing a reply one way or another.

As members of the Qantas FF program we are entitled to certainty around the way the program is run and its benefits. This entitlement is earned by continued dollar spend in the program.

I wonder what makes you think you know how qantas staff are viewing this thread. Red Roo seems to be encouraging our petty whinges about priority boarding. Those petty whinges seem to have got action to actually provide domestic priority boarding. Seems pretty drastic a response if they are rolling their eyes and tossing coins. Between all the coin tossing and eye rolling how did they get time to do priority boarding.

I was fortunate enough to have the chance to talk to some of the Qantas team a couple of weeks ago. They seemed pretty engaged with the AFF members who were also present, even when raising our petty whinges. Of course most petty whinges are around here also come with some alternatives.

Do you often make these types of comments on your other favoured forums as well, or is it just the AFF community that you try to poke a stick at?

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

I just booked my brother his first JASA from Gold Cost to Perth via Sydney.

I havent booked a JASA for a few months and told him it would be aroud $120/$150 cash price plus 36,000 points.

The cash componant when bringing it down to the 36,000 points was $260!!! A normal economy cheapy was $299.

Does this sound right or has the cash amount been increased?

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

JASA prices have increased 25%-35% over the last month based on my own calculations.

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

I was on the phone to the premium line the other day, the staff member helping me suggested the booking engine they were using had already changed, at least the process they went through for the flight I wanted had changed, and was much smoother than normal, for her and me.

There has been a few changes I have noticed over the past few days, a few little subtle changes when redeeming a voucher for example!
