Are my calculations correct...? 19k QFF = $40...? plus you would also earn SC's I guess....

WhY bother...

Indeed. It doesn't make a lot of sense to give QF 19K points and HKD300 for the privilege of using a ASA. I bet someone will though.

Yes, and I thought the Qantas store was poor value..... Seriously pointless activity using points for such a ticket, and the more examples we see like this will have many looking seriously at other programs. After all, we have a choice and not even Qantas can "enhance" that ;)

It's a sad reflection on QF when I hear comments like " Oh good, now that I have requalified QF Platinum, I can try out other airlines":(

It's a sad reflection on QF when I hear comments like " Oh good, now that I have requalified QF Platinum, I can try out other airlines":(

But it's a "choice" which QF themselves force on us in many ways. As QF decides to "rationalise" and "partner" more, then the loyal QF customer - and I'm sure there are plenty (including myself) - is forcibly pushed onto other carriers, who are then provided with a free-kick back at QF.

I'm sure this is all taken into account by the bean-counters who advise the Exec, so that they can comfortably predict that this is the true salvation for QF.

Similar to any changes to options such as ASAs ... I'm sure it's all been financially modeled to the nth degree to show that any drop-off by "the knowledgeable" will be more than matched by the ignorance of the others.

... the one thing that puzzles me about that logic is that it seems to be only "the knowledgeable" who would use them - especially as we keep reading on this forum, QF staff seem oblivious to ASAs in many instances so wouldn't even be pushing them.

Maybe that will change if they've now become more profitable for the Roo.

Regards,

BD

time will tell I guess, but I thought they already had the "true Salvation".... well that's what they were telling us several years ago wasn't it...?

So should we run a pool on the next date to be claimed by the OP and others for when ASAs really are being removed? I'll have $20 on July 2nd!

It is either my internet connection, or coincidence, or finally it has happened. The award bookings tab is now blank on my FF page....

EDIT: Don't panic! It has come back!

Seems no obvious pattern. 10th April was a Tues. 18th May about five weeks later but on a Sat.
I'll take a stabs 14th of June thanks. That's a Thurs. Why not mix it up a little eh.
Is there any way to design a poll on these forums ? :D

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

I booked our September JASas on Tuesday so not worried.
However the QF website is doing strange things. Our Comair(BA) flights from march and april have not posted and QF says because we haven't flown yet.So looked up my bookings and there they are for July. But click on view/change and it gives the correct date of travel.

Well the I fare based JASA I've been following CNS-BNE does seem to have gone up another 15000 points. :p ;)

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

regardless whether people can agree with what constitutes removal of ASA
this thread is informative
it's nice to know how the numbers are changing

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

But it does seem like the sky has not fallen :!:

I probably should have put in a  That "I" fare ASA has increased, I think. But the other 3 "U" ASAs I've been tracking haven't increased again.

BTW Red Roo, you might like to pass back to management that I book a business award with VA instead of accepting the seemingly increase cost for the ASA. Just saying. ;)

I'm hoping this thread will get locked.
It was a stupid rumour to begin with and it's time to let it die.

All coming from the OP's reputable source? Sounded a lot like Chinese whispers really.
