I booked a fully refundable FASA SYD-LHR just in case ;) turns out I didn't need to, but I will enjoy the trip :)

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

So it seems the the ASA Apocalypse didn't come to pass. Life goes on, and the world continues to turn. Let's hope the OP and his supporters don't come back with a third date, or else this thread will read something like QF removing ASAs [Definitely 30 June [Was 18 May, before that 10 April].

Can I suggest that next time somebody gets information like this, a few less people (a few hundred less?) run around screaming "The sky is falling!" and a few more just chill and reflect that this has been yet another rumour gone off the rails, and one which makes AFF look like a bunch gossiping bunch of fishwives!

Anybody who backed this rumour in any way, regardless of who they were, has lost credibility. Doubly so for people who pretended to have 'inside knowledge' but didn't reveal all, just to play a bit of an 'ego game' and cover themselves so that if ASAs went or ASAs stayed they could in either event pretend they knew.

Lots of assumptions there about people and their motives etc. I'd suggest the assumptions are mostly wrong.

I am offended by that post, but I respect your opinion to be freely published on this site, just as you will respect the opinion of others that post in here...including the original OP of this thread...

I would suggest that those bringing information such as this to these boards should be allowed to do so, on the off chance that the rumor or hearsay is correct. While I appreciate all I read on here, I do not believe all of it on face value, but do some investigation myself, I encourage others to do the same...

Given that a few posters here had similar information, I'm inclined to believe there's some substance to what they're saying even if it hasn't panned out exactly. We benefit from lots of inside information on AFF and I don't understand why some are so quick to criticize. As long as the posters weren't maliciously spreading wrong information, give them a break.

While I agree that we should all bring our tips, tricks and rumours along, it was more the certainty of the OP that I think has triggered some of the angst. If it is me, then I would be inclined to say something like "heard this..., the source seems good, but only time will tell. Anyone else heard anything?" It is less likely that everyone will polarise quite so sharply.

Well put, sums up my thoughts.
I love a good rumour ;)

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Just a thought for next time, perhaps a rumour along the lines of "some guy who is totally in the know but has told me to keep it a big secret so I'm now publishing this on a public forum" should be moved into the playground and only allowed to be moved into a more serious forum if that rumor can be substantiated (eg pointing to actual media releases or public documents which confirm or at least strongly support the rumor). This should have especially happened once Red Roo repudiated it.

The problem with this thread is AFF normally stands for a trusted and semi-authoritative source (as far as online forums go), and by allowing this thread to turn into what it was it could undermine what is otherwise a good source of information about QF. By moving such threads into the playground, it does not stop the speculation, and nothing stops it from been moved into the appropriate forum (such as the QF forum) if the information turns out to be true.

Just a thought.

So ASA's are still here but the copay has gone up? Is that the gist of it all?

Not for me, I checked when the rumour first started and could fly JASA return to BKK for 120k and AUD700 and I checked today and it is still the same

Definitely went up $50-70 for Domestic JASAs... for my routes anyway.

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Domestic JASA's certainly gone up in price and quite a lot really so on that basis, JASA's certainly in the sights of management. Anyone acting on this thread and booking early would be feeling quite good about themselves right now

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Booked a domestic JASA today for early June - CBR-SYD-HBA - points and prices (16,000 + $ or 33,000 outright) were basically the same as one booked earlier, so in this case it is pretty good.

I booked one of these before the 18th, just in case, since it was fully refundable. It was an extra $46 over the one I booked back in March but it didn't go up on the 18th.

Not that any sensible person would actually read such gossip and participate in such a forum. The very thought! :)

Always a choice of reading, acting on, replying or speculating in this forum. Or not. Don't like it? Don't participate. However ...

Looks like more than 1 reader thought it was worthwhile. I've booked and saved too.

I have just looked at an (J)ASA to SIN for next January and it is cheaper than what I paid this year :!:

Yes I noticed that CBR-SYD-HBA hadn't changed all that much, it probably increased by ~1k points.

I do CBR-MEL the most and I have definitely noticed an increase. For YASA, it is now ~18k pts compared to ~16k pts previously. For JASA, it is ~30k points compared to ~26k pts previously. Annoying if you ask me. :(

I wonder if it was a conscious choice by QF to increase the price of DOM JASAs to deter status runs - or more importantly to restrict access to cheap status. That might explain why int'l ASAs haven't changed as people are less likely to do an int'l ASA for status alone.

If people really wanted cheap status, they can pop over to HNL on JQ and then AA their way around and reach WP for about $3.5-4k... Less if sales and routing are nice to them.

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Yep - and QF can't control how AA run their airline so can't prevent that. They can control their own fares and charges though which was the point I was making.
