re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

I have just looked at an (J)ASA to SIN for next January and it is cheaper than what I paid this year :!:

Perhaps because they have created a large amount of capacity with very little destination traffic? Just look at the fares, they are dirt cheap.

Not sure about other members, but I visited SIN a lot more when it was on the way to Europe. Now I can't think of a reason to go. HKG far preferable and an A380 4 days a week :)

Yep - and QF can't control how AA run their airline so can't prevent that. They can control their own fares and charges though which was the point I was making.

Yes, but they can turn around and say "we will only be awarding points for flights in these fare buckets". I hope they don't, but seriously, how many people actually use the YUPP fares like we do?

That would also adversely affect people on "valid" P class fares.

I have found xUPP fares booking into A and P fares and sometimes (oddly) into F when on a AS codeshare! That spans all 3 First revenue booking classes! Not to mention if A fares are removed from earning that removes earning on AA first on a AONEx ticket.

That is a good point and people have been posting that many domestic any seat awards have increased in points cost and/or $$cost.

Not on topic but I had 2 JASA flights MEL-BRISBANE-DARWIN booked for end of June and I need to change them. Does not matter what dates I use it is going to cost me an extra $ 152 pp = $ 300 +

Are you sure it's the same booking class??

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

that was selecting the cheapest options available

That doesn't mean a lot, there are usually several different classes which make up the cheap tickets, once one cheap class is sold out they simply move onto the next cheapest class. They will still call it Red-E-Deal / Discount Business / Discount First etc, but the actual fare class will be different.

I may have found a change to ASA's

I have been looking at a few international flights using an ASA in J as I missed the chance to book F seats (although I am going to ring QF to request an F seat)

I was certain that before if there was a classic award available, you would then find that you could book a cheap ASA as well!

However now I have found that there seems to be J classic awards available but then no cheap ASAs

Anyone else seen this ?

Yeah,I see it fairly often on the routings I check....and prior to the start of this thread/rumour kicking off
And had to book 2 Classic J as there were no cheap JASA's showing (LAX-SYD)

I've seen it on international routes quite a bit, going back at least a year. Less so on domestic routes...

Ah okay, just thought QF may have enhanced ASA's in that way, but seems it's always been the case

Thanks

This is a genuine question. Is Any Seat reward just a scam?

I just check for a PE seat SYD > LHR and it came back stating I needed +600K Points or Pay $4200 + 196k Points.. Now, I am sure you can get a PE seat for cheaper than that price and not use any points... What is going on? I say again, is this a scam?

No it is not a scam, just some options are better values than others...

At full price ASA's are not worth it, but the ASA's which appear as Classic award seat pricing is good value

Do we have a new date yet for the next removal of ASAs? I've lost track ;)

I am certain most J/FASA's have risen in price and now cost at least 50k more in points for flights from MEL/SYD to LHR.
