re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Hi,

A poster has asked to copy the general thrust of my emails to the various card holders who push QFF points my way.

Here it is ( the details of your cards etc added where appropriate)

Hi,
I have one of your ......... cards.
The ultimate reason I chose it over the alternatives was that I could maximise the number of Qantas Frequent Flier points I could earn..
This arrangement has worked pretty well up to now.
Recent changes to the QFF programme reducing the ability to choose and book business class Any Seat Awards has made me wonder if I should look elsewhere. The “points and pay option” is nowhere near as attractive. A significant advantage of the program has been lost
...........is a business and you want the best value for money and I am sure that you pay good money for the Qantas points.
The ability of using your ........ card to give me free travel on Qantas has been reduced, devalued.
Perhaps you should review the price you pay Qantas to see if it gets you the value it once did.
I like your ...... just the way it is but it is not as attractive as it once was.
I am only one cardholder and am clearly upset. Maybe your next focus session or online questionnaire could include some questions relating to satisfaction with the latest QFF changes.
Here is a link to one of the frequent flier websites that has canvassed the changes
http://www.australianfrequentflyer....m/confirmed-qf-removing-cheap-asas-48705.html
Clearly I am happy to provide any further feedback should you wish.
Yours sincerely,
..............
Card details ......

Pity you didn't check your grammar and spelling before sending it, may have been taken more seriously :)

Fire a shot and even if you miss the target people still hear it.... I think a few grammar and spelling mistakes don't make the message less credible, personally I think it is fine and expresses the OP's point of view fine...

Great idea. I'll be writing to all my banks.

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

I sent feedback to QF and have just got the following reply:

Dear Miss JessicaTam,

Thank you for contacting The Qantas Club and Frequent Flyer Service Centre.

I'm sorry to learn of you're disappointment with the changes to Any Seat Award bookings. Feedback from our members is always welcome and assists in the ongoing review of the program and our services. Please be assured that your feedback regarding this will be forwarded to Qantas management for their information.

[/FONT][/COLOR]Not that encouraging, but at least it has been logged.

Seems the replier from QF mucked up their grammar. Should be "your" not "you're".

There is a positive to all of this, more bookings for me with VA means better chance of catching up with medhead in the VA lounge...

(aiming to catch up with you on 5/8 in the VA lounge medhead...)

Jessica, are you really disappointed?

I am also disappointed my weekly airfares have been increasing the past couple of years. Yes, I know there is nothing I can do about it but just thought you may you want to know about my disappointment.

Irrelevant you say? I am sorry for the interruption....

John, you really think that removing ASAs from the online booking engine isn't a retrograde step for QFF?

Am I correct in assuming that there would be both a (J)ASA and a (Y)ASA available on this flight...? (if there is also a classic available)

“From 26 June 2013 Any Seat Award bookings made in reservation classes X, Z, U or P cannot be made online at qantas.com.”

Also what are "Z" & "P"...?

Edit: This perhaps answers my question in regard to booking classes: https://www.qantas.com.au/fflyer/dyn/program/classTypes but from my post above, is what availability showing a "guide" that an ASA is worth ringing up and asking for...? Or is my thinking too simple...?

Ah. The memories of the times when we were disappointed over the loss of Anytime access. :p

Don't worry. Give them a year or two and they will come up with something bigger and better to upset people with. (That's if anyone is still using the scheme)

Also what are "Z" & "P"...?
Award booking classes:
X - Economy Award
Z - Premium Economy Award
J - Business Award
P - First Award

Stick ASA on the end and voila! An award you used to be able to redeem online which has now been 'marginalised' (or is that, those of us who used them are being marginalised?) Makes no difference to QF, clearly. ;)

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

With the new system, is it not better to use the services of Flight Stats FlightStats | Flight Airline Seat Availability
before ringing Qantas. Are they reliable? I am figuring if I see a lot of U class available on a flight, then I am more likely to get my JASA, and saved my self a lot of phone time. Am I right?

No I honestly do not think so. People are still going to find a way to get cheap Any Seat awards and even if they are removed, completely, people are still going to find ways to get status cheaply. That is the nature of a frequent flyer forum.

I think people are missing one key point for Qantas here. They need to be seen to protect top tier status and not everyone should be able to earn Platinum One easily. Or am I missing the point?

Ah. The memories of the times when we were disappointed over the loss of Anytime access. :p
I am still disappointed we lost that one. Patiently waiting for the next benefit of status to be "enhanced"....

Some members are advocating to take as much phone time as you can, so that QF may realize their error in removing these. I would say they've removed them from the mainstream to try to discourage their use.

I'm sure they'll just kill it off quicker so the operators would only have to took at bookings where fees can be charged.
