Hi - Here is my referral link if anyone would like to sign-up using it :) :

https://www316.americanexpress.com/...merHub&MGMURN=AAAADgIRGhEbAg==&CPID=999999484

Using this link to sign-up will get you 80,000 points (and I'll receive 20,000 as a referral reward) - subject to amex t&cs.

I have a bit of a strange goal - I'm trying to save for a trip to see Chernobyl next year before it gets covered with the new arch. For some reason the disaster has always fascinated me, and I have a strange desire to see how nature has claimed back an abandoned town. Getting some nice flights to Europe would be great.

Re: Velocity Amex – 80,000 points, return free flight, lounge passes, travel insurance

Anyone tested the free flight booking straight off?

Re: Velocity Amex – 80,000 points, return free flight, lounge passes, travel insurance

Adding my referral to the thread. Using a referral link is even more important now that the public offer has halved to 50,000.

3 velocity points per $1 on VA

Re: Velocity Amex – 80,000 points, return free flight, lounge passes, travel insurance

Just a reminder that this referral link will give you 80,000 velocity points. which is 30,000 more points then applying directly. For a tidy fee of $349/annum and a free flight thrown in this is a great deal.

Once your signed up you can then refer your wife/husband/friend/lover/co worker. One sign up will get you an extra 20,000 points and you will then have enough for a return trip to the US or Abu Dhabi. Or the same trip one way in business. :)

And then you will be hooked on the whole points for flights gig like myself. Happy flying.

Re: Velocity Amex – 80,000 points, return free flight, lounge passes, travel insurance

Just a question.

Does the complimentary lounge visit include the international lounges? or only domestic lounges?
The T&C's only say "lounges at domestic airports", which doesn't really say if you can use international lounge or not. Or is it implied domestic airport=domestic lounge?

I read it as 2 complimentary single entry passes to Virgin Australia domestic lounge (that is linked to your Velocity Account) AND 2 single entries to the American Express SYD International Lounge.

  • Enjoy two complimentary Single Entry passes to the Virgin Australia lounge[SUP]7[/SUP] each year at selected domestic airports
  • Enjoy complimentary access up to two entries per year to the American Express Lounge at Sydney International (Kingsford Smith) Airport T1[SUP]8[/SUP]

There actually aren't any international virgin lounges. So yes it's domestic only. International at sydney you get two entries into the Amex lounge. These can be for you and a guest or for yourself on two different occasions.

Ah ok.
They have access to other international lounges (e.g. Air NZ in MEL), but I assume the complimentary pass won't cut it.
MEL needs to get an AMEX lounge :(

Happy to have a place to share and use referrals. This 80k offer is a huge improvement over the 50k non-referral offer. Of course it may go up in the future, but if you want to do it now, this is the best deal.

I'm not sure where you've been the past few months, but it went down from the massive 110,000 points to 80,000 at start of October. Unlikely it'll go back up. I would gladly be proven wrong by Amex/Velocity.

I've been right here. I got the previous deal. Yes, it was better.

It has been higher before, so of course it can still go back up! I didn't say it would, but it most certainly can.

Maybe you are new to credit card offers here in Australia, but I came from the US, and my experience there is that they go in cycles.

It's highly unlikely the previous deal will go down as the best offer, ever.

Im hoping they swap it around and offer 110k points on the qantas variant next time

It would be a really good offer and a lot of people will sign up, but I don't think Amex would do it. But hey I could be wrong .....
