Current Qantas First Lounge Menu (SYD/MEL) and relevant topics

Happy Friday!

All this food talk has made Red Roo very hungry.

Just to confirm the new winter menu will be effective as of 1 June 2016 and we will ensure the Rockpool site is updated with the correct menu :)

Missed it by that much! In Syd F lounge for lunch on 31st May - hopefully they won't be serving leftovers! ;)

This makes me very hungry too.

However I don't reach WP till I get back home to Australia from LHR, so I will have to be patient and wait till next year to experience what the FLounge in Australia has to offer. Looking forward to trying the FLounge food.

Brilliant :D
Just in time for my flight to LAX !!
Looking forward to it.

I'll be there for breakfast in a couple of weeks.

Moved from QF95 to QF93 next day ... with the 95 full menu is an option not so with 93 ....

Just polished off the Chairman's pork ( chairman Mao, that is). Very nice.

Great staff member - I asked what Reds were behind the counter (almost said under the bed :) ) but he found little. He then said he could have a look in the stock downstairs that they had left over from the Dom Chairman's Lounge (Qantas Chairman this time.). "Liberate away" I replied!

Am currently supping on a nice Rockford. There is virtually no one else in the lounge (MEL) so I think the next hour or two will be usefully spent.

oh, the pavlova was fantastic. I guess I'll have to leave it some discrete time, but there will be another before I board!

The Basket Press? It's a top drop! I've been 'converted' to many wines at the F lounge, sample them there and end up buying a few bottles for the home cellar. Best surprise decant I ever had would have been Penfolds RWT, but it's a tad out of my price range...

That's my friend's favourite wine (he drinks it very rarely saving it for very special occasions). It's the best wine Rockford produces and if you are a member that can buy it you can only get it in limited quantities. If he ever visits the FLounge and they have that he would love it (if a flight was delayed and he could sip on that it'd probably be the only time he wouldn't mind a flight delay).

The best wine I discovered in the F lounge was Hentley Farm The Beast Shiraz. I think between TomVexille and myself we polished off a couple of bottles...and we now purchase it from the winery to enjoy at home.

Caught another early taster of the winter menu in MEL on the weekend. Alongside the fish tagine (already noted up thread) was another Neil Perry loved dishes -- beef braised with Guinness. Initially didn't appeal and went with the Chairman Mao pork, but decided to try (in the interests of this thread). Didn't expect to finish it given I wasn't too hungry, but I polished it off. Was quite tasty with beautifully cooked and tender meat. Nothing flash but a nice comfort dish for winter I reckon.

Unfortunately can't be so complementary about a market inspiration of sake beef. Had a wonderful description but turned out to be, best I could tell, your basic pre-packed deli roast beef with a mustardy sauce. Nothing wrong with it but pretty basic for a F lounge. Was popular but everyone I saw having it looked at it like I did. Hopefully that's not part of the next menu.

The 'beef braised with Guinness' has been on the F menu for at least a month - wasn't introduced when the Autumn menu launched but like the tagine it was a something of a mid-season addition. Sounds like a good 'comfort food' dish to keep on the menu for winter, keen to try it on my next visit!
