Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Via email from Cellar One:

“It's been a while since you stopped in to grab some delicious wine from Cellar One. We're worried your wine glasses might be feeling neglected, but don't worry, we're here to help! How does $30 off your next purchase sound? Simply copy and paste or type this voucher code into promo code box at checkout:”

I last ordered in August 2021.
I only have ever ordered once recently, and never received a code.

Maybe because you've spent recently, they've given you the code to come back.

That makes more sense than giving codes to people who don't purchase

It's interesting to hear all these bad experiences. The nice chap who price matched some great wines for me last year replied when I asked 'do you price match?' said "no, we price beat!", then helped me clear them out. But it is hit and miss and one does feel grubby when refused.

It’s very inconsistent. Some stores like to price beat by $1 while others will just price match. I suspect many employees don’t know the detailed rules apart from a general PM policy.

Thats been my experience too. They seem to get quite annoyed by it and they just use the 'thats lower than cost' line and refuse it and tell me to go to that store to get it if its so cheap. They have actually been quite rude about it. I couldnt even get my local to match another Dans that was 5km away.
In a former life I worked in one of Sydney's premier wine stores on the North Shore. Guy came in telling (not asking) me that I should price match some stuff at Kemenys (Bondi, good 45 mins each way). He didn't appreciate it when I said the best I could do was pay his toll... 😆

Just visited my mother's.

10 years ago, apparently she sold 8x 2004 Penfolds Grange at auction.
She kept 2, and she pulled out a French wine.

They've been in a box in her bedroom cupboard.
I took a photo to scan it through Vivino.

It looks like it's past its prime, from recent reviews on there.

I can't imagine it's going to be in a great state having been stored in a bedroom cupboard. Only one way to find out though ;) Report back!

If your shop didn't have any explicit price matching guarantees - then there was no need to match regardless.

Different Drop have a Black Friday 20% off sale - 300 wines included.

Majority of retailers do this every year. It should just be called black November
They try get your money, before the actual real discounts.

Black Friday is 50/50 the best sales with Boxing day. I don't recall anything insane for wine tho last year.

Apparently VM will have a massive sale, but they don't exactly have anything I want at the moment 😬

Unfortunately why I haven't bought any myself.

I would be keen for 6/12 of Jimmy’s Block Shiraz

Had a look at Liquorland with an idea of using this Shopback offer to buy beer, but their prices are at least 10% more than everywhere else.

Remarkable State sparkling shiraz is certainly no gimmick, to say the least. The depth of dark fruit, bramble and tannins make it taste a class act and a steal at a tenner. Many thanks to earlier proponents.

Horrible...until I learnt that you dont drink it champagne cold.... once it warmed up it was a very nice intro to the world of sparkling shirazes... what a rookie error.

Hmm - I can’t imagine drinking warm/not cold champagne. I mean I don’t freeze it but certainly serve colder than a red wine.

Strictly speaking this is a sparkling shiraz rather than a champagne. That said I did enjoy it cold - I suppose it is the beauty of wine/sparkling- each to his own

I was also pleasantly surprised with sparkling red that had warmed up a bit from fridge temperature, still cool but not 3-4 degrees
