Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

I did order 3 bottles of VANYA from Cullen because they are pretty scarce and not available at retailers.
Then I went over to Dans to get 6 Diana Madeline and 6 Chandon Brut using pricepal, Woolies e-gift cards and free delivery.

Which vintage of the DMs and what was the wash out price with all the AFF tricks? Did you get the Vanyas from Cullen direct or through a retailer? Questions, questions!

I have been eagerly waiting for your status update, Redbigot. Thank you so much for this heads up.

I almost ordered the lot, then realised I had a shopping cart of $3,000! So after drawing breath, I ordered a case each of the St Peters 13, the Dorrien 12, the Saltram No 1 12, and the Black Label 13.

Bugger - missed out! Prices seem to have gone up...

So many questions....
Vanya is $350 a bottle direct from Cullen and I am hoping it is as good as Penfolds 707 which my taste buds suggest is the best Penfolds red (with free delivery).Hill of Grace is up there as well.
With Dan Murphy's deal 6 Chandon Brut were 105.00 less 9.15% in kickers and 6 Cullen 2012 for 598.50 less 9.15% in kickers plus free delivery.

That is $90.62 for the Cullen and $15.90 for the Chandon.

I did a purchase earlier in the month and got the 6.15% rebate plus 5% Woolworths gift card for NYE in Sydney.

Now did you see Aldi won more accolades. They are doing some great drinking now wines.

For those who's managed to grab the Pyrus/St George, have you received yours yet? Still waiting for my St George's and now Winemarket have gone quiet when I message them on eBay. Might give them a call tomorrow.

Haven't received anything so far. They claim that they have the Pyrus and will have the St George at the end of this week. Not sure I believe that, but will give them the benefit of the doubt.

Thanks Cove. They are sharp prices indeed. If you are after some aged Cullen DMs, then check out the Langtons sales. I hear they have huge numbers of a number of vintages, especially the 09s - which should be getting closer to their drinking sweet spots. They were going in the 90s from memory, which is not bad considering they have apparently spent their life in excellent storage.

My Pyrus 12 turned up within a few days of ordering it, and one bottle was duly dispatched for quality control purposes! I hear from others on this blog that the St George 12 is an advertising issue. They said WineMarket put the deal up mistakenly thinking they had the stock when they didn't. And they say WineMarket are trying to source the stock to honour their promotion, which I think is decent of them. But in PR world, silence is obviously golden when it comes to admitting your mistakes!

Thanks fellas. I guess I should sit tight and wait for them to turn up. Definitely much kudos for them if they try and source the St George just to honour their mistake.

Quick question for the panel. For the first time ever, I took advantage of the Cashrewards offer ordering online at Dan Murphy's yesterday (8% on wine, slightly less on other stuff) and also used a WOW Gift Card with the 5% discount to pay. It seems to have registered OK but I did notice that the Cashrewards site does say that using gift cards to pay could mean no cashback.

Have any of you found this to be the case?

Someone posted it up on OzB and soon after prices went up. The stupidity of people who don't think before deciding to post some deals that should stay on the down low on OzB astounds me at the best of times.

redbigot, I don't think it was you. It was the OzB factor.

Still, poor form on TWE's part too to do that.

Poor form? It's supposed to be a restricted, limited audience community. Not a "we'll give discounts to the entire world" forum - that just destroys the value of their brand(s) - customers who bought at full price, their reseller channel etc. etc.

Have always been fine with pricepal

Spoke wayyy too soon - found a PayPal refund e-mail this morning from them. At least they've kept the WOW experience consistent.

I'm still waiting on my St George. Let us know if you manage to get through to them.

I'm still waiting on my St George from Winemarket as well. Have been in weekly contact with them and as of Monday 30/11 they said it'd be in their warehouse 'by the end of next' week, to ship out.

Not sure if i'm less patient, but website stuff-up or no, I did not expect to wait 5+ weeks for them to fill the order. Pretty poor experience to date compared to a lot of other ebay retailers, and especially compared to the gripes Vinomofo got for selling wines 2-3 weeks before they shipped!

In any case, in order to head off mini2's refund, I've just suggested they may wish to substitute the Pyrus for the St George. Surely that would leave both parties happy!

Finally got through to them. They blamed eBay for not pulling the listing quickly enough for an out of stock item. IIRC it was there for a day or three....and it's been a month since they were paid. Surely it wouldn't take them 3 days to pull a listing AND 4 weeks to work out it's out of stock?

WOW is getting my money regardless, I can now order another bottle of RunRig without blowing my December wine budget :P

No impact to reward by using a single or multiple gift card.

Usually using more than one gift card causes a problem. I just log a missing cash back if that happens and have had it awarded.
