Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Ordered a dozen Diana Madeline reds tonight from Dans as I had run down to one in my cellar.

You need to stop coughfooting around cove, it is an outstanding vintage. If you have already got through 1-2 dozen in 9 months since its release, you should be grabbing 10-12 more cases

I ended up at sub $100 from Dans with free delivery. It is scary getting down to one left but I do have some other good drops downstairs.

With 707 up near $500 I chose to go Woolies GCs on the Diana and a rebate site off $109.30 with free delivery to my work office.
You can see I am still suffering from Penfolds sticker shock for 707.

Cove

I did receive this from Langtons. They are only available via broker. They were online but out of stock online. Last week broker had 9 packs left.. so If you have a broker contact via Langtons you can ask if any left .

6 pack 2 x DM 2010, 2011 and 2012

With the upcoming amex statement offer 80/20 back @ boccaccio cellars
Would you people go 12 cullen DM's or 12 clonakilla's SV or 6/6 of each?
Any other high end wines worth grabbing? I bought some of each before at the click frenzy 60/30 offer and got a few bottles of DM's and St henri. Haven't had an occasion to try either, but looking at stocking up for the future.
cheers

I don't think you can really compare the DM or the SV. Totally different wines. Buy based on the style you prefer would be my recommendation. Both are obviously best in class for their respective styles in Australia, so it isn't like you're considering a bad wine. If you like them equally, you have an answer there too. A dozen of each

How many AMEX do you have?!

Don't be fooled....always use your own taste buds.
If you love a particular inexpensive wine you should not be swayed by someone else having a different opinion.
When I was a student about 5 decades ago I used to drink a full bodied Penfolds red that would tip the cash register at around 2 dollars.

Ok thanks, my fav wine atm the xanadu cab sav, so I am guessing the DM being from the same area should be better. But I don't mind a shiraz with my meat. Might get a 60/40 split.
Not buying these to drink now, but for the future

Don't confuse more expensive with being better. Even more important, better and more expensive might not be what you like more either.

Have you had SV blends before? If not, might be worth seeking one out (even a cheaper example) to check that its something you actually like :)

I had a SV blend last week, was very nice, made by a local bloke down here in Canberra - Hamish if anyone knows him :-) . I am not a wine connoisseur in the slightest, I figured if the ratings are high and vivino rates it, it can't be that bad. I would only ever buy expensive wines with a decent discount. Still tossing up up if 25% is good enough considering we had 50% last time!

only 15..not in the Dr's league

Not enough from Langtons? They are reds with the Grant Burge Shadrach - they're for me, the rest are for my clients.

You're right - I could have done better. They could have been Tolpuddles ;)

Just sizing up an order to take advantage of 6 Amex on the Boccaccio offer. Shipping is $30 for me (!) so want to make it a dozen and claim the free shipping.

Offer now available (along with BP: Spend $40, get $10 back, up to 2 times) but...

STOP - Wait - you will/may not receive credit back for online orders, so instead perhaps visit the store when you're here for a few days in March? :)

One other thing I noticed was,

"Excludes phone orders and online purchases."

Not that they will necessarily be able to tell what channel was used.

They could certainly tell depending on how they process the transaction.

But as Boccaccio was one of the merchants that participated in the similar offer in 2016, I'm sure some one would remember whether an identical clause was part of the deal at that time. I'm thinking it was though. So basically ignore it.

The Mid Year offer last June/July was in-store only and I didn't receive credit back for an online order so cancelled it.

Whilst both in-store and online transactions appear as "Boccaccio Cellars Balwyn" on my statements, online orders are processed via eWay as per transaction emails/receipts from last November's Online Retail offer, not EFTPOS/Mondex like in-store.

Sorry, misread that and thought you were talking about Dan's. My local has the 14 at $23 in a 6. Haven't tried to price match but I'm pretty sure qaz has had some success.

No, I didn't try :)

The November offer did provide credits though, IIRC, despite having the same "instore only" restriction.
