Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

For those taking up the Wynns Grey Label magnum offer, be aware you need to enter the bar codes of the bottles and although not excluded in the T&Cs, the robot is rejecting Wolf Blass Yellow label bar codes.

I hope you can contact someone and have your claim validated.
It is funny though that the Yellow is not excluded as you can pick it up for around $9.50.
The Seventy Six costs more than that.

I paid $11 (Darwin remoteness tax). But yes, at that price I would have thought it would be excluded... Perp aha the error is in the T&Cs

Yep just bought a case of yellow label and it's being rejected. Also tried the Brown label and computer also says no

I'm looking to purchase a bottle of 1989 Grange as a birthday present for my partner (who's age is now clear!).

Dans have it for $600. I've never bought this type of wine before. Is Dans generally the best way to do this, or is there a black market or something for these types of aged wines?

A novice question - would this likely be a wine that was bottled in 1989 and stored since, or would It have been stored in bulk and recently bottled? How does one verify that such a wine has been well kept etc?

I'd shop around for the best price but be mindful of the T&Cs.

Several years ago I bought a Grange for my father for a milestone birthday and while Dan Murphy was cheapest, Vintage Cellars would give me 20% off for a six bottle buy which pushed them cheaper than Dan. So I bought the Grange and five bottle of $6 cleanskins from VC. They were terrific in spag bol, but I digress.

The point is some retailers will exclude Grange and other high end wines from their six and 12 bottle buy discounts, so be sure to check.

As for your other questions, I can help much there I'm afraid. Good luck.

Actually "marked down no further discounts apply":!:. Seems very reasonable price to me if you're in the market for this specific vintage.

89 vintage was bottled in 1990. Ring or email them and ask about its providence. It's cheaper than the current vintage for a reason! 89 was a reasonable vintage, not stellar. 90 and 91 vintages better. But hey, it won't be diabolical, it's Grange!

Booked the Dan event thingie, might go and ask the guys there about the event. Quite a good excuse to go pick up another bottle of Metala.

Yeah fair point... It's more of a symbolic thing than anything. As you say, though, Grange is Grange! I dare say it'll spend another few decades on the bar anyway

Unless you can store it properly, my advice is forget it.
