Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

I grabbed this pack from WD after sussing out on OzBargain via the link below:

There is a lot of negativity regarding the RRP of the Martins and Kilikanoon, but it seems to be a pretty good deal at around $21 a bottle even ignoring the RRP. I buy a bit from WD so I'm familiar with the Martins and the Curtis (it seems to be in everything). The Kilikanoon i haven't had before, but I've not had many bad wines from them.

I think there is an Amex offer going on at the moment too, but not sure which as i don't have an Amex rewards card, but those that do can probably suss out the deal.

I usually look here for deals rather than OzB because the community can be pretty toxic, but I get suckered in to looking occasionally. . .

If you value the two Curtis/Martin wines at $30pb (the Martins was selling for $27 recently), then the 4 Meymans for $10 is the only value you get.

The claimed RRP's are from the producer's fantasy land.

That said, the Curtis and Martins are good wines at under $30, the Meymans I think is pretty much exclusive to Wine Direct and would be reasonable value at about $15.

Ahhhh I usually don't play with the secrets. It is hard to value it as a $150 wine when it is sold so cheap..... it does taste really good though. I've got about 2 dozen over the course of buying mixed packs. It seems to be in everything. I'd suspect to drive up the RRP
Definitely Martins.
Wine Direct is a specialist in mixed cases with wines from Curtis and some other producers who use the fantasy high RRP, low deal price strategy. Some of the Curtis wines are appearing elsewhere now at Dan Murphy and Qantas Wines, at sizeable discount to the fanciful RRP, but not as low as you will get at Wine Direct in mixed cases or mystery deals.

Another good thing i found from them is the Ringbolt Cabernet 2018. It is amazing. On their site for $30, but if you email or call and ask, they will sell it for $20 a bottle. I got a text about it a while back. I've since bought a second case to cellar.

just in case members have not seen this - it may be of interest.

I have not personally tried their product yet, but have ordered a half-dozen as I felt it could be of reasonable value.
Which store? $240/6 for me and would not touch it with a barge pole at that price.

The Epic Neg Alluvial Fans Shiraz 2017 was $87/6 on Thursday, that looked a possible deal.

Any other great value wines that anyone's had from greys?
Grays has a lot of junk and 17% BP + card fee + freight ruins many deals. Occasional bargains to be had, but you have to be patient and make sure you select Autobid rather than the default Standard bid.

Also a Click5 $99/5, Click15 $140/15, Click40 $299/40 online offer which I hope will stack

Sorry _ just checked again and it apparently was a three day offer only. The Semaphore shiraz six I got was the same price - $87

Now confirmed as Giant Steps Tosq Pinot Noir 2018.
Also now available at The Wine Collective at the same price but 8.75% Cashrewards

Thanks RB, I can't work out if I'm disappointed or not. I really thought the '17 TOSQ was the best of the Giant Steps pinot line up. I have a strange combination of trepidation/anticipation for trying the '18 given the average reviews.

So far, for those delivered and tried, two of my subscribers have liked it, one hated it.

Click5 / Click15 / Click40 are listed on Cashrewards so should stack. Appears that you have to spend at least $339 to get the $40 off, as it says "Offer applies on orders of $99 / $149 / $299 or more after savings and discounts, and your promo code SAVE5 / SAVE15 / SAVE40 is entered at checkout. "
