Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

After an unexpected rush of 8 domestic flights in 4 weeks for Mrpippy he will be short 110 sc for gold needed by end of January, I wished and wished for a double SC for him and it didnt happen, then I slowly came to realise that back in September he DID get a double SC offer for OOL Syd flights, which we was soon disregarded and forgotten about as not relevant because he was so far away from making gold. A frantic search of emails revealed the coveted double SC email still sitting there paitiently waiting for someone to hit the register now button. So I pressed the button and then began to justify a status run to the Gold Coast.

Justification came easily, a planned, but as yet unbooked, weekend away to Melbourne in January instead of xmas gifts to eachother morphed into a long weekend on the Gold Coast.

Mr Pippy flying a JASA one way and a YASA return (missed out on a decent JASA return through a few days of dithering and procastinating), 21000/ $245 60SC x DSC = 120SC, while I tag along on a red e deal.

I am not sure if its a good deal or not, I think its ok but considering we were going to spend money on flights to Melbourne anyway its all good, and Gold will come in handy for some overseas travel next year.

So thanks to all the info and ideas and know how on here, whether I have put all that information to good use or not remains to be seen. hehe.

and the lesson is.....ALWAY click the register button when you get offers - what is there to lose?

Anyone got any ideas for one out of Hong Kong or Singapore?? Searched but didn't turn up anything...

Asia is a bit foreign to me! More used to the US and Europe...

Especially if you get a double status credit offer which you can use in the first month of your membership year.

I'm doing two of them.

Im in the same boat but doing one. Got family in ool so adding in some flexi y and jasa from there. 3 trips this month domestically for 1040 sc

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Thank you, yes saw that one just thought there had to be more out of Asia!

Now... don't be so greedy... :)
Although, if you find yourself only a few SCs short of where you want to be, a 3K flight or two should fix it, and they are based in SIN.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Hi guys I have been reading for some time now, I feel an addiction brewing :)

I have a question - I received the double status credit offer for flights between OOL and SYD. For those of you talking about status runs OOL-SYD-MEL-HBA and the like, do you get double status credits for all of the legs? Or just OOL-SYD as per the email? For eg..

there is some interesting new options ex- OOL.. e.g. OOL-SYD-MEL-HBA, OOL-SYD-BNE, OOL-SYD-BNE-TSV, OOL-SYD-BNE-CNS.

Im doing the ool-syd-mel-hba next week, 24k plus about $150 for 120sc, double promo gives 240sc.

Would you not get OOL-SYD (40x2=80) +SYD-MEL=40 +MEL-HBA=40 equals 160sc Total, rather than 240sc as quoted above?

Thanks

Welcome, there are a few double status flavors around including all domestic flights and NZ flights, one I got.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Ah I see thank you. That answers my next question about MEL-SYD-ASP-SYD-MEL :)

Yes I was fortunate enough to be on a double SC domestic/NZ offer for November and December. Will see me to platinum I think

Can anyone who has done a status run to TSV tell me if the aircraft used for QF970 BNE-TSV is then turned around forQF971 back to BNE? It's a 40 minute turn around and too risky unless the same aircraft is used.

This is also a reasonably risky status run starting in ADL as there is only 45 mins between QF660's scheduled arrival and QF970 departure and my experience on 660 has shown delays are a regular occurrence. If all goes well it can be done in a day.

QF jets to TSV only come from Brisbane, so no risk at all.

Flightaware indicates this is so.

Thanks. Now need to decide whether the risk of a delay on the way to Brisbane is worth it. Might end up forking out for one nights accommodation to remove that risk

live a little! don't worry too much, if you miss it due to a misconnect won't you get a free night anyway?

If I miss the first connection I don't know because it effects the remaining 3 flights. The schedule is quite tight trying to do this run in one day
