Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Are there any dates still available?

Need to find about 100SC for Platinum by Feb 2012 for an cheap as possible

Looks like a few still available from mid-Jan and plenty through Feb & March.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

I was trying to sort out 140SC before end of feb to get to Platinum. Trying to do a JASA BNE-TSV-CNS-TSV-BNE. The TSV-CNS leg will be in Y, and can be done in one day.
The multi-city tool doesn't seem to like this in one day. I can get quotes when I have a maximum of 2 segments per day, but not all 4 segments.
I was trying to get it all on one PNR, rather than two bookings.
Any ideas?

Put the first two legs in one day then last two the next day, when it comes to the third and fourth leg flight selections, change the day back to the desired date:

Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

there is some interesting new options ex- OOL.. e.g. OOL-SYD-MEL-HBA, OOL-SYD-BNE, OOL-SYD-BNE-TSV, OOL-SYD-BNE-CNS.

Im doing the ool-syd-mel-hba next week, 24k plus about $150 for 120sc, double promo gives 240sc.

It seems everyone else is enjoying a double SC promo except ... moi !

Yeah, I know !

I only ticked the 'offers' box a few weeks ago despite being in the QFF program for many years (and some 400K in points just sitting there).

No worries !

Doing my status run this week for the first time ever !

Not as efficient in points as I'd have liked (this post is way too long to digest everything my friends) but wisdom comes from experience, I guess.

SYD BNE TSV BNE CBR SYD !

Somewhere close to 200 SCs I hope ( in J where it is offered).

Still learning the ropes !!!

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Last CNS TSV flight on Saturdays is 1.25PM, that is where you are running into trouble.

Markis10, You are a legend!
I can stop ripping my hair out! Moved to a Sunday and sailed through.
Should get me 140SC and with DSC should be platinum with a week to spare!

Thanks again.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Hs anyone looked at fares starting outside north America? I will be in Barbados at the end of April. I have done a few searches through multi city nothing is coming out extremely cheap! Although I have noticed that because I start at BGI I can only fly around north America and then return back to BGI (and not go to SJO etc..)

Any chance someone is able to give me some inspiration for routing ideas that might price out ok? First flight is BGI-MIA and then the rest is open! (from memory it arrived in Mia at 11.25am)

Ideally I want the status run to take me straight to platinum (will only need 1200ish) and spend $2000?? ;)

Is it a big ask?! Can use 2-3 days...

Thanks gogo

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

I completed one last year but I was visiting people in SEA. My route was split into 4 trips LAX-xDFW-MIA(overnight)-PAP (A$581); PAP-MIA(overnight)-xORD-SEA(stay) (A$661); SEA-xSFO-xMIA-BGI(stay) (A$736); BGI-xMIA-xDFW-LAX (A$900). That netted 1180 SCs so you could consider something like it.

The key parts were PAP and SEA as destinations but I didn't stay in PAP but simply got on the same plane back.....but it was a very tight turn around. The total cost was around A$2800 but the last leg was the most expensive and there could be other options and it was only because I entered the US via LAX.

There are multiple YUPP/KUPP threads that will offer good advice. The Caribean as a start/end is, well, a good start.

No DSC here either, legroom :(
That run above should get you more than 200SCs - I'm in SYD midway through a TSV-BNE-SYD-BNE-TSV booking (for work not a SR) and FF Calculator app shows 200 SCs + 5264 FF points (PS) in J. With the extra leg to CBR you should pick up 240 SCs?

The TSV BNE and the CBR SYD are in Y: 1st leg because of the prohibitive J point cost (32K vs 140K from memory), 2nd leg because that's the only option (from memory).

So, that's where the 200 SCs approximation came about.

.... :( Got a raw reminder today, friends !!!!

To ensure I got 220 SCs as needed, I took a brief SYD MEL trip in Y, using - I thought - ASA booking.

When I got back and checked the points statement, the big '0' was staring at me as far as SC was concerned.

It appeared I forgot to switch to ASA but remained in the Classic Mode, hence no point was awarded.

What a waste of points & time & money !

Bitter lesson for a rookie - Should have remembered this thread.

The point is - for SC-run rookies like me - to remember is to switch back to ASA mode after scanning in the Classic Award mode.

First time is a lesson, 2nd time is a mistake !

Even if only one other person becomes aware of this simple error, AFF would be a better place for helping others in the dark (like I was / in many ways still am).

True, I don't expect another silly mistake like that again.

I did not even realise the (absent-minded) error until today when I checked the QFF statement. Always confident of the ASA booking (and counting the SCs !)

There is a a JASA TSV-BNE-DRW-BNE-TSW run on 9/2/2013 for 48000 and 301.59 :).

Bummer of a lesson though :(
The DRW run sparoz mentioned might help ease the pain: 280SC + nearly 10k points back

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Looks like I am getting the hang of this :)

30/1 OOL-SYD-MEL-HOB, 31/1 HOB-SYD-MEL-OOL 48k+314.13 for 240sc.
