Possible but usually, when we've used the offers, it's just a QF ticketed flight. I was suggesting a QF ticket on EK.
To be absolutely clear - a QF ticketed flight is part of a booking with ticket number starting with 081- .

A QF marketed flight has a flight number starting with "QF".

I received a 50% SC offer and it was crystal clear (in the fine print) that for the 50% it simply needed to be any "eligible" (~) flight with a QF flight number.
To help you soar towards more benefits faster, we're offering you 50% bonus Status Credits[SUP]*[/SUP] when you fly on any eligible flight[SUP]^[/SUP] with a QF flight number.
...
^An eligible flight for the purpose of this promotion means any flight with a QF flight number on the ticket where Status Credits are normally earned. Qantas Points and Status Credits are earned in accordance with the Qantas Frequent Flyer program terms and conditions. ...
So, at least in my case, a QF codeshare on EK would comply, being a QF MARKETED flight. (FWIW, an industry representation for this would be QF*EK)

Yes I should have been more explicit and said a flight with a QF flight number. QF flight on EK metal is normally ok and we do them all the time.

Some, although rare offers for SC bonus specify only QF flights on QF metal I've seen these reported but all our offers have been just a qualifying flight with a QF flight number, so one needs to check the T&C.

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

It is very important to be aware of the T&C's though as some are QF metal only - the big "everyone" DSC promo from April being a prime example of this - codeshares bar a few specific transpac flights codeshare on AA did not qualify whereas most of the targeted offers did include codeshares. It pays to read the fine print on these offers to be sure.

Someone said in a seperate thread that you only earn at standard economy rate for the AKL - KUL leg....

It should earn J SC's as I believe it's only between Australaia and KUL and KUL and Europe where J earns as Flex Y. The QF Calculator shows AKL-KUL earning as expected.

I thought so too but the T&C seems to contradict this

Flights between Australia

Europe*; New Zealand
and Malaysia, UK or
Europe*; and Malaysia

Middle East

Nice. I don't know if I will need to do a run yet so I don't think I will book it at this stage. It is tempting though.

This is fantastic. I'm going to need a status run just to keep Gold I think....

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

For Downloadingdata... For some $5.90 per QF SC is ideal.
If I had some funds right now, I would book an F seat
east coast to NZ, and a J seat from ADL to east coast... and J seat from NZ back to ADL, guaranteeing me PS till Jul 18.
Cant keep paying to fly QF SG for ever.
US or Asian trips are too far distance speaking... but that price NZ related is quite good.
Can go lower for some tho.

My anniversary now

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Is that good value though without any 50% or 2X SC promotion? It comes to about $5.9/SC?

The sub $500 one way J fares are fantastic value for the SC return in this part of the world IMHO.

Sure you can get much easier (not so much as before) SC runs on AA but you need to be over there.

at nder $1k for 160 SC at least that represents very good "local" value in my book).

YMMV though

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Agreed RichardMEL. It does represent good value locally, if you're on the east coast. Finding anything as simple, with good value on the west coast is much harder. Yes, there are intra-asia trips but they involve positioning flights and are much trickier to achieve a 'decent' earn in a simple way. I'm away enough for work anyway, I think SWMBO would just about lose it if I told her I was going away off my own back for 5 days just to earn status!

That's where LTG comes in handy. Once you have that you won't have to fly to keep SG. One reason to do cost effective status runs is to build up lifetime SCs not just SCs to get short term status.

It may take me another 20-30 years to get to LTG but I hope some well timed status runs will help speed things up a bit.

wow calm down dude. Im not sure we'll still be flying in airplanes in 20-30 years time or that Qantas will still exist.

What about SEA, they typically offer 2-3$/SC. And the funny thing is, NZ is not that much closer/further away than many cities in SEA.

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Apart from the value of SC's (the J fare specially, though it's $60 more for EK metal codeshares) the F fare is a decent enough discount for those who may like to splurge a bit to enjoy the cabin, food & bev and service on the short hops.

IMHO the suite spot I prefer is a J fare over, and an ex-NZ sale F fare back which can work out at ~$1400 AUD for 200 SC which gives the benefit of a better schedule going over (most people don't like the early EK flights over) and the really nice late afternoon/evening flying of the return sectors on EK will a full dinner service, the bar at the back of the 380 and all that stuff.

Of course everyones mileage and tastes will differ :)

(unfortunately last I looked there are no current ex-NZ sale fares in F :( but they are pretty common one could even risk a one way J over at $500 and just wait on the return....)

SEA = Seattle Airport. Yes?

Edit: Seattle-Tacoma International

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

I suspect from context SEA is meaning South East Asia :)
