Re: Best Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

Did you miss my post stating 50k will give you exactly what you need, albeit one half in Y. Or just book the one way as a JASA for 36k and $234 and buy Y back for $300 and no

I also gave an answer of cns-ool via Sydney !!!

Thanks Marcus no didn't miss it long trip than doing it dom, points low though, cash is high, $417+$300+ 1 nights accom $200 say around $900, might see if I can do a JASA CNS/BNE/SYD SYD one way and buy one way J ticket. Found one day'r CNS / BNE / SYD points 50K + $72, return J $942.

You have to look at the whole picture, 36000 points plus $500 cash + $80 for Novotel AKL gets you 200 SC and 11000 points back, so net cost is 25000 points and $580 plus duty free savings.

Re: Best Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

I have booked numerous JASA's before (yeah always use the slider), had no idea to look up classic 1st.

Do we need to look at Classic first at all ?

What potentially benefits are there ?

Couldn't we just use JASA (+ the slider) to minimise the points ?

Am I missing something?

Re: Best Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

I could do a J 18th/19h CNS/BNE/AKL/BNE/CNS get 280 SC x 2 = 560 SC, its 72K FFP less - 11K back be 61K points $400 + $80, not to shabby.

Via SYD gives you 160 SCs each way, 320 return = 640 on DSC, with same pts and only a few extras $$s.

Before my current SG runs out have just one more trip planned, once completed will only have 210, need another 390 to retain SG, so CNS/AKL/CNS will be more than enough.

I will be in HKG October might do a J run out of there on MH or do a CX out of TPE if time permits to go up to Plat.

Re: Best Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

Thanks for the advice everyone. Booked mum on a PER-CNS via MEL return.

.

Just curious, is it wise to display your name and Frequent Flyer number on your post?

I don't think you're missing anything, I just use the Classic price as a reference .
I'm still new to this malarky and all of those Awards look too dear so I use the Classic price to benchmark the ASA.

Re: Best Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

Challenge... find me a J out of CNS (not via TSV) return around 48K points and cash for 200 status points (with my double 2x200 =400), i see plenty at 72K points.
If you look back you should find some ideas following your previous posts:

F Lounging... (what's AKL F Lounge like..?)

Average at best. About the size of a large living room with a bar/food along one wall.

In saying that though, im yet to see it anywhere near full, so it quiet.

Never been in the QP next door though, so cant compare.

Re: Best Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

Did that before didn't give me a solution for a toto of 390 SC, many there for more SC.

My options are use less points, spend big with CNS/TSV/DRW or more points CNS/BNE/SYD or CNS/BNE/AKL arr decissions.

Can you get to ISA easily?

If you only want 400 SCs, then here's some other options...

*Base points may have changed a bit, since I did this up a while ago, but gives you the idea of what you're looking for.

Re: Best Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

Hi all,

Quick question which I'm not sure has been answered elsewhere. If I decide to do a status run via points and book 2 seats in business on the same flights under my name will there be any issue? Ive heard that for tight connection flights you have to go see the check in counter to receive your boarding passes.
