Looked at that too.

Re: Best Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

My dilemma: Is it worth a little extra status run to tip me over SG the day before an international Y flight?
I will hit SG on the international (QF129) but if I do, say, a SYD-CBR JASA/YASA the day before, will the credits hit the a/c before I board, and will it be worth spending $193 & 21k points when I'm going to tip over on that flight? It's not the best value run but it's quick and earns the required points (actually double).
I have the current DSC offer and a very crowded itinerary (flight-wise) the 2 days prior, but I could squeeze it in.
I must be mad to be even thinking about. I s SG that much more than PS on international ? (I am already QP)
Comments, opinions? ( re the SR, not my sanity…)

Whats wrong with cns-syd-ool at 24k

Re: Best Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

Average at best. About the size of a large living room with a bar/food along one wall.

In saying that though, im yet to see it anywhere near full, so it quiet.

Never been in the QP next door though, so cant compare.
The one time I visited AKL as a WP I spent the time before the flight in the Flounge. I agree there is not much to it. On my way out to the flight I ducked into the J lounge and felt it was a nicer space with better food offering. Next time I may just use the J lounge.

oh, and it seems the words 'please' and 'thank you' have gone missing from a lot of recent requests!

Re: Best Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

Pls confirm if this is correct: say, I have DSC offer. I will be able to do 3 jasa runs at 200 x 2 x 3 - which will total 1200 to maintain Plat? DSC offer is not limited to one trip? Crazy idea, I know! TIA.

Just as a side note, I'm loving all of the JPGs of status runs in Excel! (I do the exact same thing) :P It's nice to see that I'm not crazy and other people do that too :)

Re: Best Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

That is correct but only on bookings and flights made inside the double status credits period which is usually 3 months. Mrscove has her year end on April 30th and so her opportunity is really in the two months from May1st seeing she has already made WP for her current QF year and is too far off 2,400 and 3,600 SC targets.

Re: Best Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

Hi all,

Quick question which I'm not sure has been answered elsewhere. If I decide to do a status run via points and book 2 seats in business on the same flights under my name will there be any issue? Ive heard that for tight connection flights you have to go see the check in counter to receive your boarding passes.

2 tickets in your name, usually no issue but you won't score SC's for the second ticket. If you have a number of connections your BP's are issued at your port of departure.

Thanks, cove! Hubby started a new year in February, so he will make use of the DSC offer for 2 runs in June in QF and the rest with BA - this way he would score 1200 required to maintain plat for another year.

Somebody has to have airline status in your family :D

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Well I've finally booked my first status run to take advantage of the DSC offer.

Firstly I have a red e deal from MOV to BNE

then next morning BNE -SYD-PER-KTA, that gives 360SC with the DSC.

Straight turn around KTH-PER-BNE overnighter into BNE at 0535. That should pay 280SC with the DSC.

then back home to MOV at 1100 .

Its going to be a long couple of days but I'm looking forward to going Gold for the first time.

Thanks to all the regular posters who give all the great advice.

I've spent a good many hours as a SG in the AKL J lounge. It's usually very nice, but does get rather full on occasion. The area with the big screen TV is a good one to stay away from: a number of times I've seen rather inebriated and loud yobbos watching various forms of football there. It can end up a bit like a sports bar.

I've never been to the F lounge, though (only SG and Y). Isn't there an Emirates lounge at AKL, too? Is that the one at the bottom of the escalators up to the QF J lounge? Soon that will be available for QFFs, too, won't it?

Re: Best Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

Just booked my first status run! I feel a little bit nuts for doing this to be honest. I've got Syd-xBne-Tsv return leaving sydney in the morning with 45 mins in townsville before hopping on the homebound flights. Any pointers for doing 4 flights in one day with the same crew looking at me a bit odd for getting off and on again on the same plane?

If they notice, and if you say "I'm doing a status run", then some may know what you're up to and give you a knowing-but-not-quite-understanding smile... I find it an interesting talking point sometimes, as most staff are not aware of Status Credits etc. as they mostly travel on staff travel, which is a completely different ball game. A long day flying like that and you'll tend to dehydrate a fair bit, so make sure you have plenty of water, and lip balm is often a good idea too. Of course it's nuts, but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy it all the same! Good luck!

Would love to hear more about this too before going on a couple of status runs next month.

Re: Best Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

I've done a big one day double run, TSV/BNE/DRW/BNE/TSV let at 5.30am returned 10pm was a long, long day, had questions asked by same crew for return in Darwin, "you just got off an hour ago why are you back?" i said "didn't like Darwin!: he said "you've not been here long enough!" once airbourne had them sit by me to get the goss as to why (as luck had it no J pax next to me on 4 flights. It was a fun day actually met few bods on way and in lounges, one guy turned out to be a good online customer of mine!.

Just about to do another double status points run, not sure where yet.
