Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Hi all. Hope you can help... I have got the DSC (whoo hoo!) I am currently gold and my status year doesn't expire until May next year. However, I have calculated planned flights for the year and will probably be about 240 credits short of maintaining gold. I really, really want to, so think I need to do a status run using the DSC. it expires end Aug. I don't have many points, but am happy to buy more or use mostly cash. I am based Mel, and would like to do up and back ASAP, can anyone suggest a status run which would net me 120 points (240 with DSC...) Any help you give would be gratefully received, by a novice AFF...

MEL-SYD-ASP will fill the bill, also easily done in one day and the FAs are used to people doing it. ;)

Thanks for the help guys! Unfortunately I've just tried and don't even have enough points for that. Thought about purchasing points but it would require more than the 15% you're allowed for an awards booking :o(

Have you and your family members/partner joined Epiqure, you get a 10000 point bonus for buy four dozen wine which can be had for $400, not a bad way of getting quick points.

along with a headache if all the booty is consumed !

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

So I have 23000 points. If I join epiqure, that would be 33000, still 15000 short of the minimum of 48000 I need, however, I'm doing some internal flights this week which will net me 8000. That would leave me to purchase 7000, which is just under the maximum 15% - so I hope the JASAs are still there at the end if the week when I can purchase the flights...as I have to get it booked by June 30 to get the DSCs!!

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Gah! Just discovered I only have 20000. So I need to find about 3000 points by Friday...and I am already flying, so it can't be that. Any more genius ideas anyone??

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Can someone send me the link for the epiqure 10000 bonus please!?

I believe ASP/SYD/HNL is the same points/cash for a JASA & permits a stopover in SYD so you could always use the ASP/SYD leg of your international ticket to get you back to SYD after a one way JASA to ASP.

The ASP/SYD could be flown in your current membership year & the SYD/HNL in your next year. You do need to get in quick for HNL though as in 353 days in advance quick.

Re: Best Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

... the exit seats in upper that were never available before now suddenly appear, I guess its the WP?, so grabbed them...

+1

Warm, fuzzy feeling of status / significant someone !

Suddenly, Emerald City seats open up and at the same time all exit row seats are yours to decide.

Actually, it consumes more of my time now - choosing 16JK (747 upper deck) and then reading AFF, call QF up to switch to 16AB (2 PNRs, in case you ask).

Wife was grinning sitting in row 1 (767, DOM) - precious moment.

The spoils of status I call it.

Enjoy it while it lasts.

There's no specific link.

A new member of QantasEpiqure will get 10000 bonus points with the puchase of their 48th bootle in the first year after joining.

Search for 3000 different things using the new qantas toolbar!

There is apparently a 22500 QFF points DJs Amex ($99 annual fee) expiring today.

Do you have any family who can transfer points to you ???? and you can then refund to them once you earn the extra ???

MEL-xSYD-ADL is 16,000 points and $414. (Random date 23 Aug). So you are good to go.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Hi guys, I've just checked and it seems that Mel-Syd-Asp and return in J = 240 status credits. If that's the case, that's all I need for the year and don't have to rush to use the DSC offer and can do it later when I've accrued more points?? Thanks for all your help :o)

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Anyone else notice a recent change to the DSC offer? Received email offer this week from QF which appears to have tightened rules. Those being, booking period from 21-30 June only, and applies to flights up to 31 August however only on Fully Flexible or Business flights and only QF domestic of Trans-Tasman services. Slim pickings!?

If it was me I would try and use the DSC and get Platinum then everything else you do gets the bonus points for being platinum.

But with the DSC, it means you have the option of cutting costs... go MEL-ASP in Y, then ASP-SYD-MEL in J, and you'll still get to where you need to be. You also need to have reward availability for one-way.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Hi AFF'ers, thanks to all your hints and tips I've just booked my first ever JASA status run (BNE-SY-PER-KTA-PER-MEL-BNE for 72,000 pts and $596) which will get me to WP for the first time. Thanks to all your combined wisdom and knowledge I'll have gone from NB to WP in a few short months! Of course, my fiancé thinks I've got a few screws loose up top but I'm sure First lounge access on our honeymoon next year will help bring her round to the AFF way of thinking! Thanks again to all!

Wow. Did you book that as one itinerary? Or with the multi-city booking tool?
