Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Anyone else notice a recent change to the DSC offer? Received email offer this week from QF which appears to have tightened rules. Those being, booking period from 21-30 June only, and applies to flights up to 31 August however only on Fully Flexible or Business flights and only QF domestic of Trans-Tasman services. Slim pickings!?
Are you sure it's a DSC offer? My email referred to "double points"

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Crikey. How many SC does that rake in for you and how many days away is that?

BNE-SYD-PER-KTA-PER-MEL-BNE
is 180 out and 200 return so 380 s/c for the trip (without taking into account the DSC promotion)... it can be done in ~26+ hours.

Depart BNE ~0600 and arrive KTA 1640
Depart KTA 1720 and arrive BNE 0835 (to 1030) depending on your selected flights
No overnight accomodation is needed as you are on the red-eye out of PER

That's good value, I'm doing a MEL-PER-KTA return tomorrow, first flight out at 0630 and return to MEL at 2230. A long day should be fun on a JASA. 280SCs so 560 on a DSC. :)

Wow, if only you could send someone to sit on that plane for you - or better, tell QF if they give you the SCs, you're happy to skip actually jumping on the plane and they can go ahead and resell those tickets.

100% correct! Seemed like the best ROI from what I could see, given I have limited time to do a run and wanted to get the most SC's I possibly could out of the run.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

I am currently sitting on 2070sc with year end of 30 Sep. I have a DSC that expires on 30 Jun. I am unlikely to travel for the rest of the year but the DSC offer is tempting for me to try to achieve PG. The PG will be for my cousin who is NB but hoarding with around 2m worth of points. What's your thought re my situation? Shoot for PG before DSC expires, or just sit on it. Didn't realise I have a DSC until yesterday when a flight I took last week posted and I called Qantas to confirm that I had one till 30 Jun. I have 65k worth of points so not a lot make around with.

48000 points will get you 560 SC (+300 in copay) using the DRW-TSV example, or 480 using TSV-ADL.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Hi AFF'ers, thanks to all your hints and tips I've just booked my first ever JASA status run (BNE-SY-PER-KTA-PER-MEL-BNE for 72,000 pts and $596) which will get me to WP for the first time. Thanks to all your combined wisdom and knowledge I'll have gone from NB to WP in a few short months! Of course, my fiancé thinks I've got a few screws loose up top but I'm sure First lounge access on our honeymoon next year will help bring her round to the AFF way of thinking! Thanks again to all!
Hi bwc86 - I am looking at a very similar trip - I'm just heading out via Adelai instead of Syndey with a later start (As I need to take a positioning flight frmo Newcastle).. I am about to book - Would you mind PMing me the date you are going? You may have some company :)

Anyone that wants to come for a run late August let me know - I could do with a drinking partner, I mean company :)

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

If you start or finish in Townsville you can do even better than that transtasman. AKL-xMEL-xBNE-TSV costing 50,279 points but earning 200 SCs.

TSV - BNE - SYD - AKL (and back) in J costs 72,000 and $600 and earns 360 SCs and 12,000 FFPs - oh for a double SC offer....

Another is TSV/BNE/DRW in J for 48K points and about $400 for 280 SC's, can be done in one day.

Re: Best Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

Thanks
I have just done the run JASA CBA to HBA last weekend. Got a VA run this weekend and returning JASA on Q which will get me to 420 QF SC one quarter into my year. I would like to make QP for first time. Is it correct that better to do paid status runs on AA end of year while in USA? At 50K points roughly for rest of year, it is correct this will not translate into 400 to 500 SC using JASA?

Just did a booking on Jetstar. It also would not accept my FF number. Will have to call them.

I ended up calling and it sounds like it's a known issue - When logged in to your Jetstar account it has an issue matching your name with FF number. I had to log out and then book the flight - It's now harder to manage the booking - very frustrating!

I noticed the red e deals were on in August. It's a shame you didn't jag that instead!
