Have been pondering over dinner. What to do..

Not sure how things are usually done, however I have realised that seeing awilcockson suggested & arranged the recent BNE event at DJ, as well as being he original perpetrator of the suggestion of BNE SYD CBR MEL ADL; and markis10 has the hotel contacts, and I was lucky in getting in 1st to suggest we form a Do around appreciating Virgin stepping up..

How about we 3 decide when we are available, & set a Saturday.

(Failing that, we just default to my 1st choice, the 22nd Oct.)

I actually received QF WP by actually flying as well. I also have AirNZ Gold Elite by actually flying too. Without a status match I would have had access to the Virgin Australia lounges by dint of my Air NZ status in any case.

So far, late November works best for me - 18th and onwards from there. Can do more or less any weekend post that date, up until Christmas.

So I won't add my name to any particular dates, I'll just say that the weekend of the Canberra AFF do would be un-doable, and that I'm away for most of September. If I happen to be available on the weekend you choose, and I've got the spare cash, then I'll be there

Even if the flights were tied into the AFF Canberra event I wouldn't be doing the flights - whole point is to enjoy CBR for me.​

Had a quick look at possible flight times to include BNE MEL CBR SYD ADL
This lets everyone wanting to jump on along the way do so. And also gives us time in all 5 lounges (very quick look in CBR)

BNE MEL 0755 1120 $245

MEL CBR 1350 1455 $105

CBR SYD 1530 1620
SYD ADL 1810 1955 $209

Total $559 Gives good time in MEL & SYD lounges, as well as more points.

BNE MEL 0955 1320
MEL CBR 1350 1455 $268

CBR SYD 1530 1620
SYD ADL 1810 1955 $209
Total $477 Except for BNE MEL this uses the same flights. Cheaper, but will yield fewer points. More time in BNE lounge as well if there to wave off the earlier flight, less time in MEL.

Arrival into ADL at 1955 is getting lateish, but it looks like the last DJ flight out of ADL is 2035, so we could check out the lounge before heading into town. If we are still peckish, a pie floater would be just the thing to finish us off.

There may be other variations on flights that would also work.
