Sorry to all those who have clashes. Let me make it up to you - will shout you a drink next time we're in the lounge.
Looks like you owe me a drink or two, Storyteller. I'm working all this w/e....unless, I can wrangle a swap with someone, I'm out....:(

Think I might make it for this, put me down, if all are welcome.
I might fly back to BNE on the Dj 1407 @ 20.35 though, for a marathon day

I like that. But is a 35min turnaround in CBR a good idea? Especially when there is only one more flight in the day. If a large amount of us miss it, there is a chance there wouldn't be enough seats on the next flight. (68 seat aircraft)

I had no idea how little flights Virgin had in CBR on weekends.

That is a very uncomfortably tight connection :!:

OT: I'd just like to point out for the record, I picked up on that, not LiamR

A 'bit' tight in Canberra IMHO.

In saying that I have not looked at any alternatives.

Im sure they will wait for us :)

The 19 November doesn't work for me, :(

Storyteller I am sure we will catch up somewhere in the world.

Unfortunately some of us book flights at least 6 months in advance....

If I were to come along, I don't have a problem as such with extra legs, but I don't see the point of 35 minutes in CBR, it's hardly enough time to make the connection, definitely no time to visit the lounge.

Yes, I did mention there is very little lounge time in CBR.. Just a quick head in the door & pick up anyone joining us there.

I chose CBR syd ADL because it delivers us to ADL. It is cheaper than separate CBR SYD & SYD ADL (though also less points), but if there is a delay there is another flight to ADL. CBR mel ADL, arriving 2025.

There are also 3 flights MEL SYD due to leave after the MEL CBR, that will arrive in SYD in time to connect to the SYD ADL flight. So depending on how creative they can be, there are alternatives to get us to ADL. And also some direct MEL ADL, though that would be a bummer.

Figured with 10 or so of us connecting they may wait the CBR SYD a while if late departure from MEL. And that's just us, there may be other connecting passengers who are travelling the long way for some reason!

Noticed in DJ's own itineraries, a 35 minute connection is not at all unusual.

Aghhh. I paced & circled & waited for more to state workable dates! ...
'Tis cool. I avoided making any preferential comment as I was not sure I'd be able to participate in any case - the dates simply ensure it.

So far this year - Jan 27th (AUA), July 29th (DFW), Oct 29th (DFW/SJU) and now Nov 19th (AKL).

I'm comfy with that flight schedule - 35 mins in CBR is tight, but do-able. And our incoming could be early, or our outgoing late etc etc... And re-routing in the case of problems should be do-able.

Originally started pricing up earlier tonight and noticed no more el-cheapo fares on the first flight EX-BNE... will look again later tonight.

Also how are people booking this? I was planning a multi-city via Expedia split over 2 tickets - but they don't seem to be playing ball with DJ multi-cities.

You can book multi-sector tickets directly with Virgin. Although it currently only lets you do two sectors per ticket.

If you split it into two tickets, that could work?

The two earlier flights still do, but the 7.55 flight certainly has jumped.

Trying to avoid the sector charge on DJ ;)

I just had a thought. If we did a multi sector booking, for say, BNE-MEL-CBR. It might just credit BNE-CBR. With Virgin's direct travel rule.

I'll be on DFW 31 Oct.

I dont think so, as their system will not class the two flights as a transfer versus two sectors. The specially priced long way round dual segments do class as a transfer which is what triggers the alternate SC crediting.
