DJ Appreciation Run Nov 19 BNE MEL CBR SYD ADL

I dont think so, as their system will not class the two flights as a transfer versus two sectors. The specially priced long way round dual segments do class as a transfer which is what triggers the alternate SC crediting.

I think you are right. I'm just thinking that if you checked in for both the flights at the first sector, something might go wrong.

But I don't think we need to worry about that just yet.

Tentative maybe  I'll be keeping my eye out here.

I had planned on a few status runs anyways but I can't confirm any dates for a few months anyways.

Since I'm based in ADL, I would probably skip BNE and meet you all in MEL if I could come.

You could always come up to BNE on Fri after work, & do the whole run!! Go on, you know you want to..

Unfortunately I will be missing this event.

I will be in the Maldives and will join in with many celebratory drinks for VA and this appreciation Do.

I think it goes purely on booking, not check-in!

Now if I could throw a small spanner in the works, but being an entirely selfish person I'm looking at that schedule thinking "is it just me, or does so much flying in Y, in one day sound tedious"?

I'm not for one minute suggesting anything should change ('tis the Australian Frequent Flyer meet, after all) but I do note an earlier post suggesting people could join or leave the schedule as suits. I'm perhaps thinking the BNE-MEL leg, then an alt MEL-SYD leg to catch up with everyone in BNE (breakfast), MEL (lunch) and SYD (afternoon tea).

CBR seems too short a stay to justify the cost (time and monetary) and ADL arrival of around 8pm means pre-dinner drinks at the ADL Lounge and dinner at the accom (if that's the plan) would be a rushed affair after factoring in transfers and hotel check-in. So I'm thinking BNE-MEL, MEL-SYD, SYD-OOL for myself and better half.

Would that be too rude?

People are certainly welcome to do some or all of it - fly BNE MEL, hang around with us, wave us off then head off to do your own thing in MEL. Join in MEL & jump off in SYD. Join in SYD... It's not all or nothing.

I'm a possible starter for this - is the routing/flights now set in stone?

Yes, routing / flights set.

I think the routing is do-able, although tight in CBR, & if there are some bumps along the way, it will be good to see how DJ handles them.
It will be a big day's flying. (It's what we do).
Sunset will be at 802pm in ADL that night, so if we get in on time it will still be light. Plenty of eating & drinking time left. And if we're still hungry later, there is the pie floater ..

I'll be staying at the Hilton. - going to take up Virgin's offer of Hilton Diamond, and use this as the 1st of 4 stays in 6 months, to keep Diamond for a year. ICH & Crowne Plaza are both relatively close by. Everything in ADL is close by!

I'm here trying to share my love for DJ, but the airfares are bouncing around. As an example:

Last night the 7:55am flight BNE-MEL saver was $119, then went $169 and is now $198.
Flex has moved from $209 to $259.

Still monitoring.

Has anybody booked yet? It might explain why some of the cheaper fare buckets are being exhausted.

Nah. Dj yield management are on to it :)

I would think they are on our side for this!!

I'll think I should be able to make it. But if fares are completely overpriced, I might fly a different way, or not come at all. Hopefully we will see some happy hour fares!

At the end of the day we will be having drinks at either the Hilton (the dark side that is drawing me in) or the IC, and a competition will be held amongst the attendees for the best DJ safety demonstration (with prizes), I figured you should have got the idea after the 4th flight ;).

*Puts Childish hat on*

I can do it. Perfectly.

I might be able to bring someone along who has done it a few times.

It was nice to login to Velocity & see my new status.
Decided to grab the $105 MEL CBR while it's on offer. - That's really committed me to this whole crazy scheme hasn't it?! Not sure about the 69kg of luggage I'm allowed..

Have watched the fares go down, then up since I 1st checked out the sectors.
