I enjoyed that flight a few weeks ago, and had one of the best sleeps I've ever had on a plane.
This run is midway between a QF8 & a QF7 for me.

So I'm still interested, but I won't be joining from BNE .. way too early in the morning for me! Are there any other starters from MEL?

The Canberra trip hardly seems worth it...

I believe the idea is to end up on one of the ATR-72's (DJ655).

I intend to do bne- mel - cbr - syd. Then im going to skip adl and fly back to bne

The more I think about it, the more re-shuffling I thing this may need. Maybe we can split the flying into two days? It would be nice spending some time in Brisbane & Sydney, Brisbane being where Virgin are based, and Sydney being where the majority or training takes place. We can organise a meeting with some of the Virgin reps in Brisbane, who are always keen to host an AFF function. And I'm more than happy to try and arrange a tour of the faculities in Sydney, perhaps a Flight Simulator, Cabin Crew training sim, maintaince hangar ect ect...

Also, if we really want to try the ATR (Which I do personally) we could always go to Sydney via PQQ. The ATR aircraft operate BNE-PQQ-SYD with a 30min stopover into Sydney. Could that be doable instead of CBR?

ie:

Those flying in from SYD:

DJ909 DEP SYD 0700 Arr BNE 0730

or

DJ917 Dep SYD 0800 Arr SYD 0830

Those flying in from MEL:

DJ309 Dep MEL 0700 Arr BNE 0810

Those flying in from ADL:

DJ1385 Dep ADL 0615 Arr BNE 0805

Gather in BNE

0830-0930:

Checkout the BNE Lounge, meet with Virgin reps, check out airport.

1000:
DJ1766 BNE-PQQ

1225:

Arrive in PQQ.

1255:

Depart PQQ (Same aircraft flew us from BNE. So if the flight is delayed, outbound flight will be delayed too)

1400:

Arrive SYD, check out lounge, see airport faculities surrounding airport. Maybe meet with different Virgin reps based in Sydney?

1600:
DJ858 to Melbourne

(Could choose a later flight to maxamise time in Sydney?)

1730:
Arrive Melbourne, check out the lounge and things at the airport. Meet with lounge manager.

1935:

Depart for ADL DJ243

2025:

Arrive in ADL and head to hotels.

End of day.

If we want to try the A330. It is operating DJ888 (SYD-MEL 2000-2130) that same night. However, we would have to overnight in MEL then. No ADL.

Of course, the final choice is with Storyteller as it is their idea, but IMO flying around without taking the time to stop and see what Virgin are really up to (On the ground) isn't as valuable as it could be.

Food for thought.

Those are some good Ideas Liam, once its all decided can we set it in stone, so flights can be booked, or at least if a sale comes up we can snap up the tickets cheaper. I must admit the BNE-PQQ-SYD, sounds like a fun way to get to Syd.

Am interested in doing at least part of this trip. Once the dates and times are set please post and I will see where I can join in.

In post #129 storyteller stated that the flights were set and no body queried what she said.
Based on that she has gone ahead and booked some of her flights and made a booking at the Adelaide Hilton.
IMHO it's a little late (21 posts & 3 days later) to change the itinerary and details.

Flights are set as Straitman says, at least for Sat, Sunday may be a different story!

Great, thanks for confirming that. I will be on all except SYD-ADL

Maybe me, and of course Lawlass as she has already pointed out

I'm comfy with that flight schedule - 35 mins in CBR is tight, but do-able. And our incoming could be early, or our outgoing late etc etc... And re-routing in the case of problems should be do-able.

Originally started pricing up earlier tonight and noticed no more el-cheapo fares on the first flight EX-BNE... will look again later tonight.

Also how are people booking this? I was planning a multi-city via Expedia split over 2 tickets - but they don't seem to be playing ball with DJ multi-cities.

Maybe DJ need to look at being able to do multicity flights eg 3 in the one day. Seems criminal to have to pay out for 3 sector fares when all travel is on the one calendar day.

If you search on the DJ website for Canberra to Adelaide, the option to go via Sydney on the flights Stroyteller stated comes up. So that is one ticket.
