Does WP guest for Qantas F lounge need to be on same flight?

Oh my god...for the 8th time...

QF WP travelling on non-OW QF codeshare has QF status but NOT OW status! QF WP on Jetstar has QF WP but NOT OWE! QF status does not automatically entitle you to OW status! You must be travelling on a OW marketed and operated flight!

Your need to repeat yourself stems from a failure to apply logic properly. That very same condition also applies to a flight on QF metal, not just to Jetstar.

"If you are QF Platinum *even if flying on QF* then the guest must be flying with you, unless you are a OWE in which case they do not" is an equally valid extension of your interpretation, and makes no sense.

Think about it before bringing your god or anyone else's into it.

See post #6 ...

I tried to get into Emirates Sydney lounge with a QF J pass. The agent refused me "because it is not a codeshare flight with Emirates". Clearly she needed an English lesson because her interpretation of the rules was wrong. You can always run into trouble 'cause nobody knows all rules in existence.

All I am asking is for someone to demonstrating anything that implies QF is allowed not recognise OW status for their own members. Because that is contrary to what is stated on the OW website.

That interpretation is entirely correct! If you are flying QF, you can bring any OW guest in as part of OW entitlements! But you can't do that on Jetstar. Pretty simple!

It makes no sense whatsoever for them to express the rules that way if that truly is how they mean them to be applied.

Nobody can rule out poorly expressed rules on the part of Qantas, but your appeal to logic based on the rules in their existing form just isn't working. You still have not given a single reason why Qantas would explicitly state If you are QF Platinum *even if flying on QF* then the guest must be flying with you, unless you are a OWE when that will never, entirely by definition, be a binding condition. Your mention of Jetstar or EK being included in the same condition is irrelevant.

No!! You can be flying on QF and NOT be OWE! Flying an AirChina QF codeshare is considered 'flying QF'! So the distinction is necessary. And I have said that numerous times...

Well...the only new thing i've picked up in this thread is that durbrain has lifted his post count, go boy!

durbrain,

Maybe you need to get someone in Qantas to actually put in writing their response to you.

Dare I dob them in but maybe an approach to Red Roo would be in order.

Wrong. OW status is only recognised when flying on a OW marketed and operated flight (Lounge Locations | Australia | Sydney International | International First - read the page!). So if you are on a QF codeshare with AirChina, your OW status is not recognised. Same with Jetstar, Emirates etc.

Which contradicts your claims about the picture of your boarding pass. A QF member ALWAYS has OW status, the difference is whether that status is applicable to the flight.

As for what the FF service centre told you, well one person who works there. When the ferryman tells you NO, you can rant all you like about what you were told it's not going to get you into the lounge. Right or wrong the Gatekeeper decides the access rules that apply.

Urr no it doesn't. The boarding pass was for a QANTAS flight (i.e. OW). So hence it shows FF PLATINUM EMERALD. If you fly an China Airlines QF codeshare, the BP is not going to say 'Emerald' on it! So a QF member on China Airlines does not have OW status from a lounge or flight eligibility point of view but they do have QF status as they are flying on a QF codeshare flight.

Well this thread was certainly a good way of you getting your post count up durbrain. Not sure what else it has achieved.

Oh yeesss it does!

Seriously get a grip. My Qantas and oneworld status remains the same regardless of the airline that I fly. You put up a boarding pass as support for your view that emerald always counts. Then a few posts later suddenly you're claiming that emerald does not exist at all. You can't have it both ways.

I assume you mean China Eastern Airlines?

I believe you're correct in that CE isn't a part of Oneworld so don't recognise OWE status. Rather they'd recognise QF Platinum.

I'd be interested to see the BP as any I've seen print out as "Platinum Emerald." Ah I remember my Platinum days....:(

I never said it 'always counts'. I said it counts whenever you fly on a OW airline (including Qantas!).

It obviously doesn't count when flying Singapore airlines! If you want to make a semantic argument that you still 'have OW status' whilst flying Singapore then whatever...

OWE counts when flying Qantas metal because it's OW. OWE doesn't count when flying Qantas codeshare with non-OW airlines. Pretty simple. If you don't get that them can't help you.

Nah, China Airlines goes to Taipei. You can book QF codeshare. Neither are OW.

Red Roo is the Qantas Rep on AFF.
Has anyone alerted Red Roo to this thread? Clarification would be nice.

P.S. If you are Qantas Platinum accessing the Qantas lounge you are not a Oneworld Emerald. You are Qantas Platinum.

Ah, ok, got it. The comments would remain valid for either. I assume CA would recognise the Platinum from QF. Would be interested to see if the BP would print out with "Platinum Emerald" on it.
