Re: Double SC for all! (Book until COB 6th Mar, Travel Mar 2017 - Feb 19, 2018)

Has anyone found anything vaguely worthwhile out of PER? Preferably a day or at most do-able over a weekend?

Early on a member mentioned PER-xMEL/SYD/BNE-CNS-xMEL/SYD/BNE-PER. I've booked this as PER-xBNE-CNS for $318 red e-deal and 35 raw SCs then CNS-xMEL-PER for $501 flexi and 70 raw SCs. I then threw 75k points at it to bring the cost down to ~$280. The trip also earns a little over 10k in points.

Thank you to whoever posted this early on.

Re: Double SC for all! (Book until COB 6th Mar, Travel Mar 2017 - Feb 19, 2018)

anyone think the below thing will have any issue when i arrive in CHC?
Will i have sufficient time to get back?
Will custom question me?
What if the flight into CHC is delayed?

1 QF 465D 01APR 6 SYDMEL*HK1 1900 2035
2 QF 133D 01APR 6 MELCHC*HK1 2345 0410 02APR 7
3 QF 134D 02APR 7 CHCBNE*HK1 0615 0810
4 QF 525D 02APR 7 BNESYD*HK1 1205 1340

total $1717 for DSC of 480. this makes $3.58/SC

i probably going to pay this by points, do you guys recon this is better off by paying cash?

1. Can't see any issues with the MCT's on any of the flights. Good amount of time in the Lounges
2. You'll be going through the transfer area, rather than going out through C&I. You've been airside since you started the flights. Some the them have had travellers like us before - be honest "I'm doing it for the FF status". They'll think you're crazy dropping $ if that's how you've paid, otherwise they couldn't care if you've used points. It might not be they way they roll, but each to their own.
3. You're protected if they are all on the same itinerary. Wouldn't be surprised that you are on the same plane coming back..if so, a delay will mean nothing unless you're detained by C&I :o

Finally, depends on which you value least (points or $).

Re: Double status credits 2/3/17 - 6/3/17

Does anyone know if you can buy vouchers in any other currency besides AUD?

No. One of the conditions for voucher use (along with no multi-city) is originating in Oz - because the pricing needs to be AUD (as that's all the voucher supports).

thank you for your reply.

but will I have my boarding pass? or I can check-in online?
$ wise, i have calculated the actual money vs the point conversion is about 1% return on cash spent on my credit card, which is not bad

i dont knwo if you can get a better cash spent to dollar return on any other ways? advise?

Re: Double status credits 2/3/17 - 6/3/17

Does the following statement means that Jetstar flights won't qualify for the DSC offer?

Flight for the purpose of this promotion means any Qantas operated flight with a QF flight number on the ticket where Status Credits are normally earned, excluding Classic Flight Rewards and any flight with a QF flight number on the ticket which is not operated by Qantas including Jetstar, Jetstar Asia, Valuair, Jetstar Japan, Jetstar Pacific and other partner airlines except for a Qantas marketed flight operated by Emirates between Australia and New Zealand with the following flight numbers: QF8764, QF8763, QF8762, QF8761, QF8770, QF8771, QF8766, QF8765.

If you do not get all BP's issued at initial check in you can get ex-CHC BP at the transfer desk
(assumuing there is one in CHC) or the gate. You don't require a BP to go through international transit security in NZ

Re: Double SC for all! (Book until COB 6th Mar, Travel Mar 2017 - Feb 19, 2018)

Anyone know if you can use the book now pay later option and book before tonight to use the DSC offer?
From memory this creates a PNR straight away which is accessible through manage my booking and the same PNR applies after you pay.

Re: Double SC for all! (Book until COB 6th Mar, Travel Mar 2017 - Feb 19, 2018)

On Friday night I booked MEL-SYD-DPS-SYD-MEL - 640 SC for $1754. The price increased by around $400 on all dates I checked shortly after booking.

Today I was looking at options for a friend and found the following multi-trip: CBR-MEL-SYD-DPS-SYD-MEL - 720 SC FOR $2191

Interesting - the first question on the 131313 line is "If your question is about the DSC offer, press 1."

I guess the call queues must be horrendous at the moment.

All it does is repeat the DSC Terms and Conditions. Nothing exciting there...

gee could have added a FAQ of sorts - going through this thread would have provided a few:

- Yes all QANTAS flights operated by QANTASLink carriers and JetConnect are eligible.
- no you may not earn DSC on airlines other than QANTAS except for QANTAS codeshare flights on Emirates across the Tasman(and include the various QF8xx_ flight numbers)
- Codeshare flights on American Airlines will not qualify for DSC
- Flights operated by JetConnect will earn DSC
- Please book before 11:59pm AEDT Monday 6 March
- If you change your booking to flights past Feb 19, 2018 then DSC will not apply
- Flights operated by JetConnect will earn DSC

and so on.... :D

on another but related note.. a friend of mine related to me last night that their business partner (who is not specifically a "FF nerd") was told by QF phone agent that DSC did not apply to bookings including sectors by airlines other than QF (eg: MEL-DXB/QF-CDG/EK). I think they confused that with codeshares on partners other than EK trans tasman, but gee some funny info going around out there (note - the interpretation I received was 2nd hand so... who knows how it had been twisted and what exactly QF said).

PER-MEL-SYD-NOU return in J Flex
$2,721.13 for 840 SCs
$3.24 per SC
Was a shame to have to avoid the AirCalin A330 codeshare flight though!

If you have a couple of grand to spare look at J to Noumea.
Book multicity so you can choose flights to SYD via BNE or MEL to boost the SCs.
Don't book a codeshare on AirCalin!
