Double SC for all! (Book until midnight 6th Mar, Travel Mar 2017 - Feb 19, 2018)

Same here, blackcat20. Even in some bookings when I've selected me as the primary booker! It seems to always default to alphabetical order. :(

The other one I love: my residual voucher shows up in his MMB but not mine, and I never got an email with the PNR for it either.
 
Admittedly he did get an email just hours after registering for the promo.

QANTAS often sends emails with out of date points and status credits tallies so I wouldn't be surprised if their systems can't cope with checking if someone's already registered for a promo in the past few hours before deciding whether to email them to encourage them to register for it and use it.
 
After the 2016 offer I retained P1 in 6 months (almost to the day) rather than 10-11 months, I did not book many flights during the promotion as I was unsure what would happen if I changed flights.

Assuming all will work the same as last year and my brain snap (idiot switch on) that led to my compulsion to forward book fights (20+) has left me with unexpected first world problems. :rolleyes:

  • I will earn DSC on all flights until my roll over date end Jul 17, however based on current projections I will fall short of the 7000SC loyalty bonus by 490SC. :(
  • From Aug I have calculated that I can retain P1 within 14 weeks, however if I cancel a QF (EK Metal) F MEL-SIN and rebook in J QF MEL-BNE-SIN, P1 can be retained within 11 weeks. I think I can wait the extra 3 weeks and stick with F class. :)
  • I will tick over LTG by the end of Sep. :D
  • 5 flights leftover that will earn DSC’s, these will get used but the DSC’s are of no value.

If it is offered again I will invest in an idiot switch override to prevent these problems reoccurring.

So much kerfuffle for a straight-forward promo. Why leave it until the absolute last second or even later and then stress and carry on and have to call Qantas etc. Just make the bookings in the stated period, fly in the stated period, and lead an easy life.

The key word is straightforward. Or is that 2 words?
 
Sadly no one answered my question so I made the booking anyway. We shall see whether or not I receive the double SCs.
 
I would think book now and pay later would work, but if it doesn't you may need to ring up and try to get the DSCs manually credited. They won't be able to manually credit till 6 weeks after travel has completed.

I hit the register button a couple of times and didn't get a confirmation email :-( I haven't always in the past though. Flying today, so I will ask at the lounge.
Had already booked a cheap business flight on webjet to Istanbul, but booked Syd- Ord, Syd- Jfk, Syd- Per and Syd-Mel... if I'd waited Before booking Istanbul I could have made it to Platinum One. Will have to find another trip to make it as I can't give up with 500 odd points to go.
Of course wil be devastated if my registration failed!

I didn't get an email notifying me of the promo either....i am Platinum and had just reset, nor did my friend, who is platinum (down from platinum one the year before). I only saw the promo on the website because i went to book a flight! I would have been really angry to have missed it.

Are you sure your Qantas emails aren't going into spam?
 
Positive- i've been looking out for this promo as I has 3 international flights to book. First is in early April, which is why I took advantage of the webjet sale.. thought qantas was going to do it in may like last year.

Perhaps also to do with email settings. Not sure which category but perhaps "Exclusive offers for Qantas Frequent Flyer Members" or "Flight specials, news and updates". Probably the first one though.

Although as you say it could be down to email client or provider. Friend stopped getting emails via yahoo and then switched to icloud and it worked without issue.
 
Maybe, I got the email last year though and haven't changed any settings. My email is so old i still have @mac.com as the domain. I've just rechecked all my mailboxes too. I am just so glad I caught it.

From memory, click the link to register on the website took you to a page to confirm your email address, which would then register you for the promotion. If you saw your email address in a box and hit confirm/send/whatever, then you should be registered.
 
QANTAS never emails everyone about these promos. I didn't get an email about it either, but I get several emails from QANTAS every week. They target the emails even for offers open to everyone. Those who are hanging out for it will keep a close eye on sites like this one and the QANTAS website.

As for getting an email when registering for the promo, that depends how you registered, how QANTAS's email server was behaving at the time, and the settings for your own email.

A bit of a sweeping generalisation. Admittedly, QF do from time to time have an email faux pas, but in this case many have reported earlier on in this thread about getting an email ... even to the point of debating the method of determination of the heading banner. I certainly was emailed the offer.
 
Many of us have also reported not being emailed about this offer and it was the same last year. The short of it is that you cannot rely on being emailed about offers like this.
 
I didn't need it, and have only purchased a couple of $50 vouchers for the heck of it, but I didn't receive the email either. As I'm not booking QF at the moment, the only reason I found out was from AFF. A tick for AFF, but if the whole point is to encourage bookings you do wonder why it isn't emailed to everyone.
