Wow the CHC route is even a better deal than F direct.

But I think it needs an overnighter?

Re: 2 x SC for all! (Book by 6th Mar, Travel Mar 17-Feb 19, '18)

Did you book that over the phone or with a TA, or as a multi-city booking on the web site?

It appears as an option if you search for MEL-CHC, unfortunately the SYD-CHC flight on EK doesn't appear (would have preferred EK J over QF J)

But I think it needs an overnighter?

My "transit" in CHC is 6 hours.. Arriving 2355, depart 0615. Haven't decided what to do there yet, but I see CHC has a "pod hotel" within 10minutes walk of the terminal where you can rent a sleeping pod (like those capsule hotels in Japan) for ~$39NZD for a night.

Good to hear. CHC airport go out of their way to discourage people staying overnight.

When I saw this offer this morning the idiot switch went off in my head. Any booked flights that could be cancelled (without fees) were the first to go and rebooked, by the end of the day approximately 20 new bookings and a few extras just in case.

I thought P1 would be gone by mid 18, may be able to get in another year.

Hoping work can hurry up and book my flights to LHR and combine this offer with my birthday month triple point offer. Might need to book another trip just in case.

You can get the SYD-CHC flight on EK if you book it as a multi-city. You need an overnight transit though as the first MEL-SYD flight of the day arrives too late for the EK connection. e.g.

The same applies for the return leg including the overnight transit.

This one is wierd though. There is plenty of time to do a same day connection from the EK flight but only the QF flight is available when I search for same day flights.

Flights booked and P1 will be mine in mid-July :) I tick over with a humble MEL-ADL in discount Y from an existing booking!

You can't add additional passengers to an existing booking. So there will be a new PNR for the second passenger. You can call up QANTAS and ask them to link the bookings to increase your chances of seats together (if you select those) sticking.

Could I use this to my advantage? Could I call up to 'add' a new (fully refundable) flight + passenger to my PNR, which would result in a new PNR generated. Then I call up and cancel the newly created flight (and get all my money back)? Would that result in a new PNR eligible for DSC?

Are there any other tricks I could try to make my two big J bookings I just made last month eligible? Definitely willing to pay the change fee!

They don't change your pnr they just create a new pnr for the other person and then link them. You can separate pnr's but not the reverse. :o

Any circumstances they would/could create a new PNR for me?

Does it work if you book it as separate segments?

1680 SCs SYD LHR return in F. Only problem is one has to fly on QF metal rather than QF on EK for only 840!

Well the other problem is the cost. About double the price of going Business for some dates for only 50% more SCs.
