You can get the SYD-CHC flight on EK if you book it as a multi-city. You need an overnight transit though as the first MEL-SYD flight of the day arrives too late for the EK connection. e.g.

The same applies for the return leg including the overnight transit.

This one is wierd though. There is plenty of time to do a same day connection from the EK flight but only the QF flight is available when I search for same day flights.

It's possible to get EK flight on MEL-SYD-CHC but I had to call up to get it

Two weeks time for me in J, two sectors in a day and same day turnaround. So pretty much covered all the issues.

Re: Double status credits 2/3/17 - 6/3/17

According to the email, reading deeper, flying J class will earn a DSC on the flexY basis, and not on the J basis, so my mumble above will not work, (so double flexY and not double J rates).
Now that I have the time to read the t&c at the bottom of the email, and note the (^^) as in email.

Poochie, are you getting confused with the status bonus? As in, bonus points based on your status that you get for flying?

This is based on FlexY, but it's points, not SCs, and has nothing to do with the double SC offer.

Miss you by a week

Damn. We could have done a lounge crawl!

Thank goodness someone understands all the 'ifs and buts'. Poochie's post worried me, again. I need every single credit I get in J.

For the barrack room lawyers providing comments based on their interpretation of the T’s and C’s adds no value and most likely confuses others, just my 2 cents worth.

This is generous promotion to sure up forward bookings and I would suggest that QF is not deliberately trying to mislead or confuse customers. Also, I still have a copy of 2016 DSC T’s and C’s. The only major differences are last year 4 AA codeshares were included (QF309, 310 3225 and 3226), this year it is certain TT codeshare with EK. Also from the sentence beginning Qantas may extend or withdraw…….the 2017 terms are the same as the 2016 terms.

Pity, so I wont make QF PS for 2018/2019 that easily as I thought....
Please provide a link to where you 'read deeper' to see this.

I cannot find any (^^) in specific relation to this offer.

It's the line about status bonus. Which has nothing to do with the offer

My "transit" in CHC is 6 hours.. Arriving 2355, depart 0615. Haven't decided what to do there yet, but I see CHC has a "pod hotel" within 10minutes walk of the terminal where you can rent a sleeping pod (like those capsule hotels in Japan) for ~$39NZD for a night.

I stayed at the Pod hotel last month on a mini SC of my own. You may be able to pick up an individual room for about AUD $75 per night +|_ , which I found terrific for the 6:20am departure back to BNE on QF.
The Jucy hotel is brand spanking new, has a Countdown ( Woolies) Pretty much next door, along with a few places to eat including a really good Indian Restaurant.

The hotel is located an easy 10 minute walk from the terminal, so no need for expensive bus fares into the CBD.

You up can also earn 3 QFF points by booking on Qantas Hotels. ;)

I kinow about the status bonus maximum, I just want Poochie to provide the info requested.

Re: Double status credits 2/3/17 - 6/3/17

I'm also wondering about this in the T&Cs:
Only one double Status Credits offer can be used per individual qualifying segment of your itinerary.
Does this mean on a MELxSYD-CHC that you only get SC on one sector, not both?
I think I've worked out what this means.

I think it means that if you buy a comfort seat, you don't get DSC for the comfort seat, just for one seat per sector.

Re: 2 x SC for all! (Book by 6th Mar, Travel Mar 17-Feb 19, '18)

Looks like there's been misdirection here, albeit unintentional. my reading of the T&Cs is that this is a straight double SC offer on qualifying flights, as long as you have no other SC offer in effect.

J earns as 2xJ, not 2xFlexY. All sectors also receive DSC as long as they are in the stated travel period.

Re: Double status credits 2/3/17 - 6/3/17

Incorrect.

Y earns 2 x Y, J earns 2 x J and F earns 2 x F

Thanks for playing.

Re: Double status credits 2/3/17 - 6/3/17

I'm going to try and maintain gold next year. My expiry is 30 June and I don't have any international travel planned in the next 12 to 18 months.
My family just doesn't understand this status run thing. It's a concept that is totally absurd to them and something that only 'we' understand I think.
Therefore I'm trying to maximise SCs by doing a day trip that doesn't require an overnight.
My home airport is MEL.
Have searched and have come up with the following:
MEL-BNE-CNS in J $1130 120x2 SCs = 240 SC
CNS-BNE-MEL in J $1130 120x2 SCs = 240 SC

With a few more domestic flights, I'm confident I can get the other 120 SC over the course of the year to get to the 500 SC required to maintain.
Is this a reasonable use of cash for SC earn or am I mad?

Also, do you earn SCs on flights that are 'paid for' with points? Sorry, I am a novice at this status run thing.

A single MEL-AKL-MEL return in F will net the same SCs for a little more money, and be much more fun (albeit with an early start).

No earning on classic award flights, but points+pay does earn.

Re: Double status credits 2/3/17 - 6/3/17

I did that MEL-BNE-CNS run last year. Very enjoyable day trip. Made the difference for obtaining WP for the first time.

If you do this make sure you do this run after March 11th. The new Business lounge in Brisbane is scheduled to open March 11th.

A trip to NZ in F (provided the timing is right for the lounge being open) would have the advantage of a visit to the QF FLounge (though that might tempt you to go for WP sometime).
