Double SC Promo [December 2010]

You should be OK moving flights as long as your new flight is within the double SCs promotion period.

I got the impression from the QF December newsletter that everyone was now eligible for the promotion.

I received a reminder email the other day. I have not even bothered to register and I can't see myself paying for additional flights in the next 6 days.

Lol!

Surely a SYD-BNE flight from the international terminal would still be classed as a domestic flight.

And the same would go for domestic flights on international itineraries.

I have not had the opportunity to read through the whole of this thread, however I was certainly awarded with double the usual status credits on my recent QF19 SYD/BNE flight. Did this happen to anyone else?

Not only did I receive an extra 10 status credits (wow, I was actually "targeted" for something), I received my first ever QF op-up on QF19 and LAN posted within a few days of flying (which I hear isn't the norm).

Cheers

QF19 is an international flight, operating a domestic leg, as discussed a few pages back and as I thought, qualifies ;).

Isn't QF19 normally a direct flight between SYD and MNL? Did you get diverted to BNE or is it scheduled to stop there?

Some days it is direct SYD-MNL and some days it's SYD-BNE-MNL.

Sun - not operating
Mon - SYD-MNL
Tues - SYD-MNL
Wed - not operating
Thur - SYD-BNE-MNL
Fri - not operating
Sat - SYD-MNL

If memory serves, in the past when QF19 was daily, it did the BNE stop three times a week.

So did everyone end up getting their double SC points credited?

I made a booking 14th December, flew on the 22nd January, but wasn't credited the points. Sent an email to the QFF email address, and received a very polite phone call this morning to say that the reason I didn't get the points was that "the TA has noted that the booking was made on the 29th of November, outside the eligible period for the promotion".

I pointed out that I had some flights held, but no booked or paid at that stage, but that the final booking was made on the 14th of December. I've sent through the email from my TA confirming the flights and the invoice with the appropriate date on it, let's hope that I see the extra 140 SCs in my account some time soon :)

I flew out of Mel to LAX on Friday as a Silver and by Sunday I was gold as a result of the double points promo.
Points credit came through real fast.
Looking forward to going back with the "privilege" of Gold.

Totally off topic, getting sick and tired of the US media going on about Libya, when there is tons of grief in Kiwiland.:evil::evil::evil::evil::evil:

We flew SYD-NAN last Thursday; standard SCs credited on Thurs & double SCs on Sat or Sun. Waiting on SCs from NAN-SYD on Monday to come through to tick me over to Gold ... 30 SCs away at the moment.

OK well I am pretty annoyed with QF right now.

My TA was holding two sets of flights for me BNE-OSL return, departing on 8th Jan and 15th Jan. These were "held" on the 29th of November.

When this promotion came along, I registered, and then on the 10th of December I had my TA do a new booking for me departing on the 12th Jan and with a different routing home so that the NRT->SYD leg was on Qantas.

I've been chasing Qantas for a couple of weeks to get the double SCs for this leg, and I received an email late last week saying:

Thank you for contacting The Qantas Club and Frequent Flyer Service Centre.

I referred the information you provided, and I've been advised by Qantas Senior Management that the booking date was 29 November 2010. Accordingly, it doesn't qualify for the Status credits promotion.

I'm sorry I couldn't assist as requested on this occasion.

This is complete rubbish. The "bookings" on the 29th had completely different reference numbers, dates and routing to the booking made on the 10th of December.

I'm pretty pissed off that Qantas are being so tight when I am well within the rules of the promotion, and have provided the documentation to prove it. But how do you argue with "we are right, you are wrong. Suck it up."???

Booked JASA MEL-HKG. Bonus SC's came through 3 days after the flight. I will retain WP on the return flight and because of the 5k loyalty bonus it will cost me less than the corresponding classic award seat.

This doesn't all add up - it's like there's been confusion there, unless you were reluctant to write a whole much longer post.

If it was a new booking made by your TA, i.e. the ticket was opened / created on 10 Dec, then why need to mention about the booking that was opened / created on 29 Nov?

The only plausible thing I can think of was that the TA used a PNR from one of the held bookings (or any other booking) which was opened on 29 Nov. She/he simply dumped the flights on that booking and put the new flights on it (the ones you thought was on a completely new booking only opened within the eligibility period), which is possible (you can keep the PNR and completely change it). Since the PNR was already opened on a given date, that's interpreted as an already-booked ticket that is being changed, not a new booking.

If it's not that and you have clear evidence to show for it, then I don't know what else.

Grrrrr ... Went back and looked again, I was certain that the PNR had changed from the original booking to the final booking, but upon looking again I can see that it hasn't (so many flights, so many emails to keep track of). Bugger :( Apologies to Qantas, I guess my gripe is now with my TA ...
