Double SC Promo

Very jealous having never got this promotion. Would definitely help for LTG marathon.

Good to see some getting offers near Christmas I suspected no offers since my renewal is Jan and offers never seemed to be around then

Have you looked at a trip to NAN ex BNE via SYD on Tuesdays using QF20, 240 SCs for $640......., quite a good time in SYD for F lounging as well.

Just having a look at this ... isnt it going to be 120 SC each way, which would make it around $1300 return for the 240 SC ?

Not if you get double SCs, QF20 would net 80 alone.

Is that because the BNE-SYD flight being QF20 counts as an internation flight due to flight number? and as a result you double the SC ?

So you'd get 80+160+160+80 SC for $1300 ?

Yes, mind you that routing just gives you an easy trip with time in the Flounge if a WP. If you look at the normal routing BNE MEL SYD then NADI, that will get 260 SCs each way or 520 return with the double offer for the same cost.

I think I'd rather make use of the F lounge and a little less SC

Just looking in March, I can't see QF20 on every tuesday? Nor can I see its flight SYD-BNE coming home.. any tips there?

actually i've just found the answer by looking myself at the flight schedule.. should have done that first. Looks like QF20 is on monday and QF19 is on thursdays.

Nor me, very jealous as well. Mrs Spruce did however for int flights Jan to mar.

I'm a bit disappointed not to receive this offer. I am currently in the middle of a UK bound flight. (Hong Kong F Lounge is OK but nothing special), and I already have one trip to the UK booked for Feb.

I still have to sort out two trips to Shanghai before the end of March so it would have helped me get to the 2400 I now need to achieve PG.

Red Roo, could you give an indication of selection criteria please?

I think that is like asking for the recipe for KFC;)

I am sure QF have a system but I am equally sure they are not going to tell us.

:mrgreen::mrgreen::mrgreen::mrgreen:

It makes no sense at all as to who is targeted...I received the email (WP) and my +1 also received it (NB)...Peeved as already have a Syd-Sfo return flight in J booked and paid for in Feb...wonder if I can cancel and rebook:idea:. Red Roo, why makes life so difficult???

 or coca cola.*

I didn't get it, but the upside of not getting it is that I don't have to work out f I am on 50% bonus, 100% bonus or 100% bonus after doing a survey

Downside is that I don't get a bonus.

(* I am always amused on the Flyertalk SPG forums where people are demanding to know the selection criteria and threatening to take their business elsewhere if they don't get an answer)

Well I did not get any offer. :(

I might just use another Airline during the promotion period and try and get status with them!

I took this for sarcasm ... then I noticed the lack of smilies and presumed you must be serious ... then the logical part of my brain kicked in and I flipped back to "He's having a laugh!" ... but the truth is I am just confused.

Why does a promotion to encourage people to chose QF over other airlines either :-

A. Annoy the people who didn't get it.
B. Annoy the people who did get it but already have bookings for Q1 next year.
C. Annoy the people who did get it but only have domestic travel coming up.
D. Annoy the people who can't find cheap ASA flights to do moronic status runs
E. Annoy the people who already have status and don't want their efforts "devalued".

I could go on but when I got to "F" all I could think of was "FFS - get a life!"

I will register for this because that costs me nothing, but like the EDR offers from Woolies it will not change my behaviour a bit because taking a flight I don't need is like buying $100 of meat I don't want.

The marketing department at Qantas must be in hysterics by now.

That is a real simple one to answer.

Some people do not receive these promotions and get status the real hard way. Why choose someone at random and offer them double SCs?

Cheapens status and makes a mockery of loyalty.

Well I have sat down and done the numbers.

I need 1135 SC's by 30 April to requalify as a WP. I now work in State Gov so WP is a bit of waste but here goes it.

So at the end of it all I will have 15 SC's more than needed but be $2168 out of pocket and 113,519 points lighter. I could also have this all done over a weekend with only 3 annual leave days needed.

BUT - I have no travel planned for next year and the soft landing to Gold is fine for the small (4 or 5) domestic trips a year.

I just cannot justify this.
