All members who received the promotion email with booking dates between 14 and 30 October 2011 for travel between 15 October and 31 December 2011 - these are the correct dates. The dates only in the terms and conditions are incorrect. An unfortunate oversight, and our apologies for creating any confusion.

All members who received a different email, booking between 14 and 24 October 2011 for travel between 15 October and 18 November 2011. The copy and terms and conditions are correct in this version.

Apologies for any confusion the mis-print has caused.

What about your loyal memebers that did not get this offer any reason, or would you like us to spend the following 9 months earning SC's on another airline.

I got the offer last night with the conditions "... between 14 and 24 October 2011 for travel between 15 October and 18 November 2011. ". I was status matched to platinum with the recent offer. Unluckily just an hour before I got the email I booked a flight with Qantas, had I got the offer earlier I would have booked those flights with Virgin. Oh well. I will likely have a few more flights I can put Virgin's way. Although it makes it a bit hard because Virgin flexi fares are often more expensive than equivalent Qantas flaxi saver fares.

Not entirely off topic ...

Those double SCs suddenly seem a lot more useful now don't they? I know i'm going to requal for Platinum in a canter but the double SCs sure would help towards the high bar of PG or PP.

True - although to be honest I didn't know who I would give it to as my partner is a status match platinum!

We may go down the pooling path as I will get a lot more SCs and so the pooling will help with renewals. Between us we should renew platinum that way, however if we kept out SCs separate it's likely we'd only have Plat & Gold.

But yes, double SCs would probably have got PG status for someone from me at least until pooling comes in!

Gee Virgin......don't I feel loved! Been gold with you for around 4 years,And now Platinum self funded BIS, now taken for granted! We put up with all the growing pains, were loyal through thick and thin and get Zero!

Today, for the first time, I find myself angry with Virgin, not just frustrated! It was bad enough battling to find a seat in the lounge in Sydney last night ....but this little Platinum duck is now questioning why I should be loyal to Virgin when clearly their new playmates are clearly more deserving of their attention!

Not impressed!

Just spoke to Velocity Call Centre Platinum, they have advised there are aware of the situation and that someone is working on it as we speak. What I will say is the staff member was empathetic and agreeable, but they have rules to follow. I belive from the conversation they are considering all options and made a clear point that there priortity was for Platinums and those that go it the hard way. I have also emailed 2 Senior Managers. Will update when we here more.

Who's to say there is not some other marketing campaign directed at the BIS crowd coming?

Why do you think VA built all the new larger lounges? To give the existing VFF members vastly more room or to cater for more VFF members?

BTW I self funded +3K QF SC in my last year and will self fund at least +2k VA SC in my current year.

VA are growing their VFF members by the new status matches. That will cause change and increased revenue for VA, which will benefit both legacy and new VFF members. Do you really have an issue with that?

When it happens I will be the first to congratulate them.

It's a stacked deck right now though. So far though we've all had our SC's wiped part way through our membership years, ensuring that we are on par with all the newly matched ex QF types, then we have had to watch as most of them have all been given bonuses to double their status credits while most of us haven't. It's pushing the friendship.

I have posted around here several times about the status matches - while it does actually (marginally) dilute my benefits i have broadly accepted that it's a reasonable trade off and i can understand why VA have done it. However I have an issue with what now appears to be a very uneven playing field. I can deal with the Status matches but status matches PLUS additional bonuses to retain status is pushing it if they offer nothing of the kind to their most loyal customers.

If I'm not gonna be part of this promotion.. just give me Lifetime Status credits and then we are cool :)

kthanx

Yes it does seem an odd way to treat loyal customers. Very strange indeed

No I don't have an issue with that, so long as I am treated equally to those who are status matched.
Change is good, and I welcome it, but successful change is an art, an I am not sure Virgin has got he balance between Old and New quite right yet.

To clarify the comment about self funded....this was not to set off a "mines bigger than yours" conversation, rather highlighting that I am (like many) with Virgin by choice, not because of some BFOD company policy.

Not commenting about anything other than to say most in both these contexts is a rather broad generalisation IMHO.

The word some would be much more accurate.

Perhaps. How many newly status matched did not receive the promo? I haven't gone back to this thread to check but the ones reporting not receiving it are BIS and the ones reporting receiving it are SM'ed as a general rule. Even those BIS ones who did get the offer have it addressed to them as though they are SM'ed. Obviously it's hard to extrapolate from the posts here but that does appear to be the pattern.

Anyone get a SM and not get the offer?

Targetted offers are always a challenge. It is reasonable that they exist as part of an integrated marketing campaign. WIth the status match, and this apparent offer targetted to those, there is a clear desire from Virgin to get people to try their product, to build up their status etc.

If I were in your position, I would be miffed as well, and I have also received the raw end on tagetted offers from other comapnies as well (e.g. Priority club), that were not as good as others got. I would hope that they have something up their sleeves for those that have been flying them and already had status. Not sure what they could do, but perhaps things closer to review dates etc.

This is a great comment. I've been grateful for my clients patience and understanding on the odd time (;) ) that I stuff up and in this case I'm a little miffed but quite prepared to accept that most of the (fairly) recently implemented changes are beneficial to us.

This does not say though, that I don't fully empathise with 777 and to a very large degree, agree with his sentiments.

Come on VFF, we know you're reading these comments and you've shafted your FFers twice now in favour of the new kids on the block, so how about some love to your longer term fans who do actually share their cash with you!

I have not received the offer via email and was SM'd. Mrs maninblack who was also SM'd did receive the offer. I am Platinum, she is Gold. I just assumed it was open to all and I just didn't get the email.

Neither of us (both Plat) got the offer.
