Double SC promo

I had a feeling it would simply be a matter of being patient.

Good things come to those who wait.

Well in light of the Virgin Company rep's comments, I was status matched and did not receive the promo. Is it because;

1. Virgin is sophisticated and have noted that I have been taking some flights with them already therefore I don't meet the profile of needing enticement?
2. It is pretty random and some SM members got offered and some didn't?
3. I will get the promotion if I travel within the t&cs and for some reason just didn't get the email?
4. Another reason I may never find out?

Probably this (I don't expect you'll get a response from Virgin).

I also wonder why I only got the limited offer, I haven't had the chance to fly Virgin since the status match, although I do have a couple of flights booked for February next year. It's a real shame because I have some potential overseas travel coming up in late November, just after the end of my offer, and double SCs would have been nice.

Well it has worked for me.
Have booked my trip to Cairns for Christmas on DJ - god I hope I don't get the back of the plane - so used to good seats...
Have also booked an art exhibit trip to Sydney on DJ.
I think I have got so spoilt with QF... will be kind of fun going back.

Why not PM VA and discuss?

I don't reckon it is - I've been flying with them since being status matched (thanks to Qantas industrial action, mainly) and still got the offer - even though I already have flights booked for that period, too.

Hence the reason in an earlier post I asked how many SCs you are on. The trend seems to be that if you've got a reasonable amount of SCs since the status match then you don't get the offer. Had you answered rather than type out some strange conversation about person A or whatever it was, I could have provided this answer earlier!

How many flights though?

My partner is on 120 SCs since status match and got the offer. I'm on 400 since I was upgraded to Plat via BIS flying and didn't get it.

The offer was only for status-matched FFers.

I know that's what VA stated, but there's at least one AFFer that wasn't (recently) SMed and received the offer! No names though, just in case it's recinded (I didn't dob, honest ;)).

Oh well, I'm prepared to wait for whatever is in the pipeline, but I do hope DJ take some of these comments on board.

(PS....I too appreciate VAs participation on here. Thank you.)

Not true - Liam received it and he was a BIS Platinum. He hit plat the day after me. The difference is he hasn't flown as much since the upgrade compared to myself.

We absolutely are aware that the non-status matched Platinums and Golds haven't been included in this offer, and we're sorry about that. Do we have other initiatives planned? Yes,

That's all I need to know - thank you for posting that.

Interesting, doesn't gel with the post from VFF quoted above.

Agree, but a few posts seem to indicate that some BIS plats got it too. Maybe an error? It still does seem to be those who haven't earned a lot of SCs though in the first couple of months.

Interesting quote there... Could it be an error perhaps? Not the first time.

I'll call the Platinum desk tomorrow and report back.

I received the offer and I am grateful but I cannot use it as most of my flights are booked months in advance.

Unless we are in the know (ie work in VA - particularly Marketing and Velocity), we are not going to ever know the exact criteria they used. Sure it is safe to say that the majority are recent status matched people who haven't flown a lot (or at all - in my case) in order to try and get them to break a habit (flying with other airlines) to try VA and it's flying partners. Even a partial change in habits may give rise to a new habit and will mean additional revenue and bottom line profitability to VA and its partners.

Let's just get out there and try VA. We are probably never all going to get chosen for a marketing plan (unless they know we are on AFF and chose us as the invitees).

Looks like my upcoming trip to SYD will be my first break of habit and I'm considering booking a PER trip as well during the offer and flight period.
