So called up QF, they gave contradictory advice (also after going away for 5 minutes)

They said to buy voucher excluding the infant in the passenger count and then call up to add the infant after booking (or alternatively book via CC and they will add infant)

I suppose it depends if adding an infant to an existing booking creates a PNR change?
I have added my infant daughter to many flights that were booked with a gift voucher.

Sometimes they have to create a brand new PNR for daughter if international flights are involved and link them to either my booking or wifes booking.

The other day I added daughter to my flight ~45m before departure as I'd forgot to do it earlier. This was done at checkin. The downside was losing 4C and being dumped down the back at 28C. Horrible checkin person. There were other aisle seats further forward. In the lounge they were able to get me a window seat in row 19 with vacant middle seat.

The 5promotion period is until Jaary next year.....
It says for bookings made between 1-5 lol, Im sure any reasonable person would think its not intentional for vouchers to work like that. If it works for this promotion then thats great, if it doesn’t then whatever right.
I get you don't represent QF and appreciate your chipping in.

But: "our system will generate a ticket within 15minutes if it is done correctly," - what on earth does that mean? We go on-line and book a ticket, and pay for it by filling in and ticking the boxes... there's not much leeway for error, else we don't get to the end. So why doesn't it always ticket within the magical 15 minutes?

To settle a lot of questions here, what is Qantas' official definition of "promotion period" and/ or "offer period" ?

What's obvious to Qantas insiders like yourself isn't always obvious to Joe Public. I recall an earlier discussion where you said something like Qantas booking classes (the letters) are always apparent etc ... by looking up 'reveal code' or similar on one's browser. Not really, I thought in that case:)

For travel to/from America you need to add secure flight information (DOB etc) otherwise it won't get ticketed.

I didn't write the T+C, but from my point of view I think they mean the same thing lol, for this promotion you would need to make a booking between 01FEB and 05FEB.

I don't know how they process double SC, I'm pretty sure there is an automatic way and a manual way. The automatic way would probably not change and just look at PNR creation date and maybe first ticket issue date and any PNRs with a DOI past 05FEB would get looked at manually.

Just my 2 cents, not saying I'm right.

Not sure how you put so many typos in my post that you quoted o_O

Sure, bookings made between 1 and 5 of Feb. But the promotion period is still till Jan next year.

No, I'm a reasonable person - and that's not a reasonable conclusion.

Ignoring the "QF insider" in this thread I really don't know why you're all panicking over the change in the T&Cs.

All the new clause says is that if you buy a gift voucher you have to redeem within the promotion period (i.e. before whatever the date in January is next year). Since the T&Cs already said you have to travel before that date, this is no change at all. You can't travel before you redeem the voucher!

I posted in another social group but of the vouchers I purchased, one email did not arrive. Luckily I grabbed the PNR and am able to redeem it but when multiple are purchased it’s easy to not realise that one is missing. Grab that PNR.
I'm missing a number of confirmation emails. Not sure what possessed me to record the PNRs of each gift voucher I'd purchased as I was purchasing them.

Sorry, Pengy, but I can't agree with ".... any reasonable person would think its not intentional for vouchers to work like that ..."

What is the basis for that statement? Anyway, there's plenty of reasonable people on AFF who have already indicated (including by buying vouchers) that this promotion is understood to work like that. We may not all agree on whether vouchers will work, but as yet there's no evidence that they won't work.

Sorry gang I can’t test the delayed booking test for next week. The voucher won’t let me book ex NZ.

Last year one of my confirmations came through weeks after booking. The confirmation could be stuck in an email queue somehow.
It's ok. It doesn't bother me as I'd saved the PNRs. Feel sorry for anyone missing PNRs. May not be that easy to find them.

Yup, for travel between 12FEB to 20JAN

What do you mean? I'm pretty sure if you gave your friend a gift voucher and he made a booking on the 20th of March he would assume the booking would have been created on the 20th of March not the 1st of Feb when the voucher was bought.
I never said vouchers won't work, vouchers only work because when you buy a voucher it creates a PNR with a psuedo flight for 1 year with the voucher value and the system can't differentiate a normal booking and a gift voucher because they are both still PNRs.

Its sad how everyone is trying to argue with me, I'm just providing my 2 cents, I didn't make the rules and I can't change them even if your argument is valid.

Any vouchers purchased during the double status credit offer will not earn double SC :(

Colour me confused.

Don't take all of this too personally. Like you, we are putting across our opinions. That's all.

As I've said before, I find it hard to believe QF have invested the time/effort in fixing this "side effect". Hardly anyone would know about it or be "abusing" it - why would they bother when so many other long-standing bugs in their IT systems remain unfixed.

Possibly the official line is, as you've read, that gift vouchers won't work. But I'd be very surprised if that proves to be the case.

So I've been reading this thread with earnest about you know what because I want to attempt going straight from Bronze to Gold before my anniversary which is 31 Aug. Already at 270 SC and have booked a Syd <> coughet flight in March which will earn me another 160 SC (because of the DSC promo).

I did buy some you know whats to do you know what for flights later in the year to Beijing (which hopefully will earn me 270 when doubled), so lets see if it you know what ends up happening  Keen to hear how this goes for other members!

My apologies if you felt we were playing the man and not the ball here! But essentially we are entering into a contract with a Qantas group company and some of appreciate understanding the terms. Perhaps it's an occupational hazard for some of us: perfectly normal and nice people becoming bizarre like that over time when they are thrown into lions' dens and told to play with the customer for a while... :D

When Qantas can’t get basic IT correct when booking then I think the delayed bookings are fine.

Today I was logged in to MrP’s account to make a booking. I tried to use a voucher but couldn’t so I had to start again. I was still logged in according to the top right. I went ahead to book a paid for booking and website seemingly it thought I wasn’t logged in. Had to enter MrP details as though as I wasn’t logged in. Went to select seats and all the first 20 odd rows were blocked. He is WP.

Gave up. Waited 30 mins then tried on iPad. Logged in and booked paid flight. When selecting seats all the usual rows were available as WP. Useless.
