Double Status Credits (book by 5/2/18, fly 12/2/18 to 20/1/19)

It really does read that […] only 1 segment will earn the bonus status credits.

This offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer by Qantas. Only one Double Status Credits offer can be used per individual qualifying segment of your itinerary. If you qualify for multiple bonus offers, the offer first registered for will be applied to each individual qualifying segment.

example would be. MEL-SYD-BNE in business class. According to that, they will only allow the bonus credits on the MEL-SYD […].

Similar text appeared on previous DSC offers. It says one offer per segment, not one segment per offer. So I'm sure that all qualifying segments in an itinerary would get the double SCs. In the unlikely event there were two different Qantas offers in play at once (unclear how this would happen when the booking windows are only a few days!), this text would tell you which offer would apply to each of your itineraries' segments.

Btw, with the last DSC promo, did anyone book during the promotion period, then subsequently make a change to the PNR after that time? If so, did you still get the DSC for the eligible flights?

As long as the PNR was created during the booking period, the flights occur within the travel period, and the PNR doesn't change. See Red Roo's comment during the 2016 offer.

Just wondering after registering is there a limit as to how many flights I can book during the period? I.e if that promotion only works for one booking.

No limit as per the T&Cs already quoted and the email titled "Take off with double Status Credits" (not the registration confirmation email):-

You can enjoy this offer on an unlimited number of eligible flights booked during this promotion.

Can someone remind me about last year?

Double SC for all! (Book until midnight 6th Mar, Travel Mar 2017 - Feb 19, 2018) :)

If vouchers purchased during the offer for bookings made after the offer period got the DSCs?

As Red Roo said during the 2016 offer:-

- The offer and conditions are based on the booking creation date, so this may assist with queries about using existing vouchers, credits, rebooking

Gift vouchers have a PNR created immediately.

Note 1 - As implied by Red Roo, gift vouchers purchased before the booking period and redeemed during the booking period would not be eligible for double SCs, because the PNR pre-dates the promotion. However I recall AFFers reporting that they were able to get double SCs after calling.

Note 2 - If you don't spend all of the credit from a gift voucher, a new voucher is created for the residual value with a new PNR. If the residual value voucher is created after the booking period then it wouldn't be eligible for double SCs.

Status Credits will not be earned on flight vouchers.

The statement is correct - status credits aren't earned by purchasing gift vouchers.

Is it a poorly-worded attempt to say something else? Possibly. As serfty said last year:- "You take your chances."

My email has no such wording.
There are no T&C's really. Just links to the registration page.

Can you show us your wording. Maybe we got different emails or there is some extra targeting going on.

This was in the footer of mine...

Worked for me last year. Bought 10 × $50 gift vouchers for myself durring the promo and I received DSC on all eligable flights during the fly dates. Missed out on a few as they were in late Nov 17 by the time I went to use them. Actually just ticked over to WP yesterday. Bingo!

Hope it works again this year.

Hi! My husband and I also received this offer but we have a dilemma. We have booked and paid a deposit for flights and the balance is due tomorrow. So the e-ticket has not been created, will we qualify for double s/c's?
Unlikely, as a PNR may have already been generated.

Status Credits have never been earned by purchasing flight vouchers, however the flying itself generally does

Everywhere else in the T&C it refers to "Double Status Credits will be earned", so I would imagine all they are saying is, don't expect the purchase itself to earn you SCs.

QF Vouchers aren't actually vouchers at all. They are just a booking with a positive balance and no sectors

I think in this context they are referring to the Status credit bonuses for the promotion not the tier bonus. Here is the exact email. It really does read that the bonus will earn only Flex rate and that only 1 segment will earn the bonus status credits.

example would be.

MEL-SYD-BNE in business class.

According to that, they will only allow the bonus credits on the MEL-SYD, and the bonus will be calculated on the FLEX economy earn rate.

I disagree.

In my email, the point about the bonus only earning at the Flex Economy rate is proceeded by a " ^ ". That ^ refers back to this: 'Status Credits determine your membership tier. The more you fly, the more privileges you enjoy, like extra Qantas Points^ on eligible flights and....'

To me, that means that you get your bonus points (for being gold, sliver, etc) only on the points earned at flexible economy rates. Nothing to do with the status credit promo as it refers to a different part of the email.

In relation to this condition: 'Only one Double Status Credits offer can be used per individual qualifying segment of your itinerary', I understand this to relate to a separate offer. I recently received a targeted 50% bonus SC offer. I can't remember the dates but IF the offers overlapped, then it would be the first registered offer only; That is...I would not get 50% + 100% bonus on the same flight.

If you're looking to take a chance on DSC counting towards a loyalty bonus anyway it'd be better to fly sooner rather than later in the offer period. I wouldn't be surprised if they still count towards the loyalty bonus till the cut-off coming up in March. I wouldn't count on it though.

Qantas Frequent Flyer
^The Status Bonus is applied to the actual Qantas Points earned when travelling in the Economy cabin. For travel in premium cabins, the Status Bonus is applied to the Flexible Economy earn rate

example would be.

MEL-SYD-BNE in business class.

According to that, they will only allow the bonus credits on the MEL-SYD, and the bonus will be calculated on the FLEX economy earn rate.
The ^ footnote appears in some emails and has no relevance to earning SC's from this promotion. In the email the ^ is used in reference to "The more you fly, the more privileges you enjoy, like extra Qantas Points^ on eligible flights ...".

Moreover, the ^ footnote refers ONLY to points, not Status Credits.

So just to be clear, am I correct that you used each of those vouchers for separate bookings and paid the balance on a credit card (as obviously each booking would have cost more than $50)? I'm guessing it doesn't matter how much the total cost is? E.g. could you buy a $50 voucher now, and then use it towards an $8k international J trip in a couple of months, and still qualify for DSCs??

I now have enough data points to know exactly what QF uses for the purposes of a DSC or double points promo.

It is also possible to get DSC on a booking made at a later date, for QF tickets that do not originate in AU, which is probably the most interesting part.

Previously, everyone would buy gift vouchers to maintain the promo, but there is actually an easier way without needing to commit any money. This applies for all bookings.

In the interests of this not being shut down, please PM me for more info.

Edit: I will review your AFF activity before responding to your PM to risk-assess this info getting in the wrong hands.

Has a PNR been generated? If so, not eligible.

Yep, thats how it works. You can only use one voucher per ticket.

Do this by logging in and redeeming through " manage my booking", select your flights, then pay the difference. Eg. You bought a $50 voucher in this promo period, proposed itinerary is say $800, pay the $750 difference. The PNR is for the whole itinerary and DSC will be applied to all eligible flights on it. Most of the time I received the DSC within 1-2 days after the sector was flown.

Should do; I should have added of course its contingent on the class of seats being available, but it was only booked a week or two ago  and for travel in April/May, so should be OK.

Got my email yesterday. Damn, I have 2 vouchers still left from the 2017 DSC offer (must use prior to 20 Feb) and I have 2 return flights to book (PER and ADL), so looks like I'll miss out on the current offer. Hopefully they'll tempt me again next time, or maybe I buy another couple of vouchers. Must read the thread now cover-to-cover

I just booked a whole lot of flights last week, but I am going to try to see if cancelling the flex flights and booking a new one will score me the bonus

See bold:

This offer is valid when you register and make a new eligible flight booking between 12.01am (AEDT) 1 February 2018 and 11.59pm (AEDT) 5 February 2018 and travel between 12 February 2018 and 20 January 2019.

It's now been ~90 mins after 12.01am AEDT on 1 Feb 2018.

Hi crew -

these are the conditions I received - note that they are a bit different and the time frame for booking is not the same.

An Eligible Flight means a domestic or international flight which has a Qantas 'QF' flight number on the ticket that is purchased in Australia; is operated by Qantas, Emirates or American Airlines; has a ticket number commencing with '081'; and is booked and travelled for business on or after the date the business registers for Qantas Business Rewards. A business that has a Corporate Airfares or rebate agreement with Qantas; or is a travel agent, travel wholesaler, travel consolidator or other seller or re-seller of air travel, is not eligible for this offer.
