Interesting, for what sector/s? Was it one that is available in the normal booking engine (ie not a multi-city one)?
I used them to book OOL-SYD returns. I am not sure if I was rushing to use them quickly in time for the specials at the time.

I still have one left and I have not tried using that one yet.

I can see how it would be an issue if I purchase 10 x $500 vouchers and have to try and redeem each one over the phone many times.

I have just completed purchase for 10 x $500 vouchers.

I received emails for 9 out of 10 vouchers with the 6th one missing. Wrong email address? Anyway went to use it online and I could select flights so all seems to be OK.

Any one make a booking where the fare was lower than the voucher amount and have a new voucher sent?

Payed for a $1200 voucher (3 people x $400) yesterday, booked flight today ($839.60) and due a $360.24 voucher to be reissued.
Ticket just hit my mailbox and under additional payment details (refund) the refund amount is listed against the CC number I purchased the voucher on.
To me this means the refund was made to the CC and no new voucher.
No big deal about it happening but is a little confusing.
Begs the question what if the voucher was a gift to someone and they did not use the full amount in one go?

Never know a voucher might turn up later, but I will be keeping an eye on CC balance to see what happens.

One of my first ones came up with that too and I wondered the same (whether it would credit the balance back to the card). But eventually a new voucher was issued. Other bookings have shown a blank section under the "Additional Payment Details" section.

Merry Christmas AFF'ers!!!

Am I right in presuming that using the gift vouchers mean you can't use the Qantas price promise as it's already quasi produced a booking before you choose your flights?

I'm buying two vouchers to book SYD-MEL and MEL-SYD in business class at the end of financial year sale for travel in August. The sale price has risen from $349 last year to $449 for the Christmas sale this year. Do you think I should get 2x$400 vouchers?

Xx

You should be able to use the gift vouchers for any advertised Qantas airfare.

Has anyone tried making a gift voucher booking for a different traveller?

I've just tried to make a booking for my sister using a gift voucher under my name. Around 2 hours after I made the booking, the itinerary finally arrived into my email but has me as the traveller . I sware that I changed the name to my sister's, but not to worry, I rang QF to get it changed. At first the CSA claimed that as the ticket was purchased from a gift voucher, name changes can't be made. Then after I explained that on QF.com under gift vouchers state that names are transferable, and after a moment on hold, he said that he'll make the name change and I should get a revised itinerary in 15 minutes or so. But now it's been almost 2 hours and haven't got the revised itinerary yet.

Checkmytrip still has my name as the traveller and manage my bookings shows "This reservation is currently being processed. Please try again later".

Late comer here sorry, been lurking but not the full 21 pages this thread has now got too....

Simple questions that may or may not have been answered before: -

- Can you use the vouchers straight away (hence increasing point earn per $ spend and avoiding the CC fees for purchased flights...?

- Can you use a $150 voucher on a $160 flight (i.e paying the balance with cash or CC... hence a payment of part voucher and part other payment method...?)

Cheers

Shintaro 10x

Edit: - In the above example, will there be a CC fee for the additional $10 payment...? TIA

Yes, just write down the 6 character booking reference and you can use it straight away.
Your booking may not be ticketed straight away though..
I'm not too sure what you are referring to about a link between using vouchers straight away and increasing the point earn..

Yes you can, there will be no CC fee at all for these types of vouchers - see here:
Buy a Gift Voucher | Qantas
Qantas does not charge a card payment fee on gift voucher purchases or redemptions

I have only ever used CC to make ticket payments so I don't know about using cash for part payments.

10 points per $ VS 1:1 or 2:1 on Credit Card Purchase alone...

Agree as per voucher T&C's, however how about for paying off a booking balance with CC?

In reference to Cash I'm talking about B-Pay, however I am really asking if I part pay with voucher and balance on CC, will the credit charge amount have an associated fee...??

Example: Voucher $150 Value | Flight Booking Value $160 | Balance of $10 on Credit Card (Does the $10 payment attract the general Qantas fee of $7 for credit card payment...?

Oh, I thought you originally meant something about redeeming the vouchers immediately after booking had something to do with earning more points? (because you were quick in using them or something)

Yes you will earn more points by using the voucher - 10 pts/$ for the voucher offer + credit card points (1-2 pts/$ depending on your card) for the total amount spent (ie treat buying a combination of vouchers and ticket co-payments where needed (for the same booking) like two regular purchases that are eligible for points earn from your cc).

No CC fee for paying off the balance (no $7.70 cc fee for domestic or $30 for international bookings), nor for buying the voucher in the first place.

My interpretation is that paying off the balance (where applicable) is considered part of the "redemption" and does not attract a CC fee. I've never been charged one when doing this.

The main advantage to using these vouchers is no cc fee at all. During the year I use them for normal bookings (add up the number of bookings you'd make and if you fly somewhat frequently, it will add up - all for essentially spending an extra ~1 minute of your time).
Even if you don't have the current 10 pt/$ bonus, you will still earn the same amount of points through your cc - split into 2 transactions.

I have used my WW Qantas EDR MC and received 2 pts/$ when buying and using the voucher from the CC alone.

Earn 2 Qantas Frequent Flyer points per $1 spent on selected Qantas products and services[SUP]4[/SUP].

4. In addition to ordinary points, we allocate one bonus point for each whole AUD 1.00 of total value of spend (rounded up or down to the nearest whole dollar value) using your credit card on: (a) Qantas passenger flights with a QF flight number purchased on the Qantas merchant account i.e. directly with Qantas or some travel agents: or (b) Qantas Club or Qantas Frequent Flyer membership joining or annual fees. Excludes purchases from Qantas Freight, Qantas Holidays, Qantas Business Travel, Jetset Travelworld or the Jetstar Group of companies and purchases of Qantas branded products supplied by third parties. We may from time to time vary the Qantas products and services that are eligible to earn bonus points.

As you can see above, technically it does not explicitly include gift vouchers as one of these "selected Qantas products and services" but I have never had a problem, although they do take some time to credit the bonus points. Sometimes have to ring up and get them to amend it.

Hope this helps.

I also assume these vouchers can be used for child pax, travelling with an adult on the same voucher...? However there is no way to enter child pax details when purchasing the voucher, only field is for "Adult"

Will just jump in with a leap of faith and hope everything works ok, never purchased Q vouchers before but makes sense to buy a bucket load of vouchers now for my travel in the new year, saving CC charges and a very decent points earn...

My thoughts exactly Shintaro10x. I didn't go overboard though as I split my travel between QF and DJ, so didn't want to be left with unused $.

Now if DJ had done the same thing I'd have maxed out the CC (and that's no mean feat :D)

It worked for a long time. But must have stopped working at some stage. At a guess the issue I experienced was about 4 months ago.

FWIW I did that BA-website-enter-your-QFF-number-before-booking-trick for a voucher bought a few days ago and it never appeared in MMB until yesterday, when I made a domestic booking.
It appeared in MMB more or less straight away. The ticket was emailed this morning.

Something to be aware off is when making a multi person booking and a new voucher (Refund) is to be issued a new voucher will be issued against each person named on the original voucher.
($1200 voucher, booked fare was $840 for 3 people)

In my case instead of a new voucher for $360, issued will be 3x $120 vouchers.
The lady I spoke to said she was unable to make them into 1 voucher again.
So to make another booking with the 3 travelling I need to make 3 separate bookings and then phone to get them linked.

In some ways it is beneficial, but others just a pain....

BA......................MMB ??????????? NOT SURE WHAT THIS MEANS.....BRITISH Airways ???.... MMB is Moorrabbin ??? but obviously different meaning here.
thanks
