Thanks all for your advice. I rang Qantas, That's what they said. I have a voucher valid for two passengers. Both just happen to be in my name.
The consultant said that I could use one voucher for $200, and on another occasion the other for $200. Or I could use $400 at once. The former is my preference.
He said it would be best to book by phoning, but I believe this incurs a fee, although he said it would not.
Therefore I will just leave things as they are, given I have a year to use the vouchers. I am sure when the time comes to book, either online or by phone, I will find out whether all I was told is true!

I'd be careful with that and check again. Usually with a voucher that has 2 passengers (and usually has 2 different names), when you use the voucher, you are booking flights for the 2 people on the same flight. If you have booked the voucher for 2 pax, then when you go to use the voucher to book flights, I would assume you will have to book two seats (for yourself!) on the same flight... probably not quite what you are wanting.

Ideally, if you intend to just use the vouchers for one person per booking, you want one voucher for whatever value for 1 pax only. If there is remaining value after making a booking, then another voucher for a single pax will be issued with that remaining value.

From what you describe, I'd be checking again. To test it... go and do a dummy search for flights using the Voucher reference and see if it shows for 1 or 2 pax.

Bought a couple of vouchers this morning.
Never received the emails, but did just get 2 emails reminding me that since I'm flying to the USA soon, I need to add extra info to my booking.
WTF? I don't have any bookings to the USA. Think something screwy is going on at Qantas.

Be careful that they are not spam emails. I wouldn't be clicking on any links.

It sometimes takes some time got the voucher emails to come through.

IME this can happen when PNRs are recycled by airlines...or similar type of booking system glitches. I currently have 2 bookings showing up in "My bookings" with recycled PNRs from AY and AB.

Appreciate the concern =)
Your message actually prompted me to take a closer look at the emails.

The links within the emails are legit - they go to book.qantas.com.au
Opening the 'Retreive your booking' link actually goes to a page which says 'Your voucher has been created' and has the details of the voucher.

Hey Everyone! Merry Christmas firstly...

So, if voucher is purchased by 27 December 2012, its valid for bookings until 26 December 2013 or its valid for bookings AND travel completed by 26 December 2013??

You just have to book by 26 Dec 2013. In other words, you can book in Dec 2013 for flights in 2014

I purchased 4 vouchers a couple of months ago and have still not received the emails. Sometimes it happens.

I always write down the booking reference and have been able to make bookings on the same day, before the email gets sent..

That's kinda normal. The vouchers seem to have a holding segment in them sometimes/somehow that starts in the USA. I haven't seen it with a new voucher, but I've had it with a couple of one way bookings that I did.

From memory the voucher has a flight from GIF to VCH.

For some reason I wrote them down that time. Couldn't use them online though so had to call and beg to have the booking fee waived.

Interesting, for what sector/s? Was it one that is available in the normal booking engine (ie not a multi-city one)?

I was experiencing the same. I purchased a voucher yesterday evening and accessed the booking reference a couple of hours later (before any email acknowledgement from Qantas). The booking had a message saying that the voucher could not be redeemed online, and that I had to contact telephone sales to redeem it.

Now that I check again this morning, however, still before the voucher has actually arrived in my email, it looks like I am able to redeem it online.

Winter Haven, Florida to (the unreliable code for) Vichadero, Uruguay? :p

Yip! - nothing's changed in that from last year:
The flight is from "Winter Haven", Fl (GIF) to Vichadero, Uy (VCH)

So the segment is GIF-VCH
Also, see this tip from last year on how to add your FF to the voucher so it shows up on Qantas.com when logged into your QFF account:
I haven't followed this thread, and it doesn't look like this was mentioned so might be a helpful hint.

The first thing I do when I book QF gift vouchers (which are just dummy bookings) is log on to the BA my booking page (ba.com) just using the booking/voucher reference and your surname. Once you're on your 'booking', in the list of options on the page there will be one to add your frequent flyer information. Add your QF number and you're done, this is also a good way to add such info for compensations and other messed up bookings.

The gift vouchers are dummy bookings for the lesser known Qantas flight QF9090, from Winter Haven to Vichadero (GCMAP).

Once you've added your QF number onto the booking you should immediately find it now listed on the QF my bookings when you login with your QFF#. Sneakily the QF computer recognises the cunning combinations of airports as a gift voucher. Clicking View/Change takes you to the voucher booking page. This way you never lose track of your gift vouchers!

I would suggest against doing that, it worked last year. But I did it for some mid-year vouchers and adding the number completely screwed things up. I had to ring in, the phone operator had to put me on hold for about 10 minutes to work out the problem with supervisor help. Basically they had to remove my number from a couple of places, according to the phone agent. Once done the vouchers worked again.

This is a real pain as adding the number made tracking vouchers very easy.

I agree. The same happened to me. I thought I was being clever by adding my QFF number so that it would appear in My Bookings list, but it screwed up trying to use them. I just keep a list of them on my spreadsheet now and add the number when I'm booking.
