Bizarre reasoning. It would be interesting to know your qualifying criteria.

Agree. And here it is. It just says cost of the overseas travel ticket must be charged to the cardholder's card. I can't see why it can't be due to a voucher + CC top up provided they are both purchased with the same card.

This is your Citibank complimentary credit card insurance cover provided at no additional cost to you... You should be aware that the issuer of this insurance cover is Zurich Australian Insurance Limited...Citibank is not the issuer of the covers and neither it nor any of its related corporations guarantee or are liable to pay any of the benefits under these covers...

Citibank Select Card, Signature Card, Platinum Card and Gold Card cardholders are eligible for this International Travel Insurance, if their travel is for no more than three (3) consecutive months for Gold Cards, or six (6) consecutive months or less for Select Cards , Signature Cards and Platinum Cards and when prior to leaving Australia their overseas travel ticket (but not taxes or airport or travel agent charges) was obtained by one of the following methods:
For Select Cards, Signature Cards and Platinum Cards:
• the cost of the overseas travel ticket was charged to the cardholder's card; or
• the overseas travel ticket was obtained by the cardholder under the Citibank Travel Program; or
• as a member of the Citi Rewards Program, the cardholder redeemed their frequent flyer points in exchange for the overseas travel ticket. Provided that within one month prior to the redemption, the cardholder had transferred at least 15,000 Citi Reward Points from their Citi Rewards Program to the said frequent flyer program; or
• as a member of the Citi Qantas Rewards Program, the cardholder redeemed their Qantas Frequent Flyer points in exchange for the overseas travel ticket. Provided that within the 12 months prior to the redemption the cardholders had transferred at least 15,000 points from their Citi Qantas Rewards program to their Qantas Frequent Flyer program; or
• as a member of the Citi Miles Program the cardholder redeemed their Skywards Miles in exchange for the overseas travel ticket. Provided that within the 12 months prior to the redemption the cardholders had transferred at least 15,000 Citi Miles pints from their Citi Miles Program to their Skywards Frequent Flyer Programme.

I think Zurich is delusional. So you only have to buy your flight with the card. What about book now and pay later, that involves 2 payments. If challenged you could just say the larger transaction was the flight cost. :?:

Re: Qantas Gift Vouchers - Earn 10 points per $ spent on Qantas Gift Vouchers

I rang to ask and they said I could [since the first flight will be a QF one], however the voucher can't be redeemed online for a LONE4 and would have to be done over the phone and incur the $60 booking fee.

Which means that it is costing yoiu $60 for a maximum of 5000 points. (as your maximum voucher can only be $500 - of course assuming that it is a solo traveller. If you were to book 2 or more people, maybe you could use more vouchers and only get charged the booking fee once?)

Already purchased $5000 here, and will now wait a week or so and purchase another 5k for a lazy 120,000 points (100,000 from QF plus 20,000 from Amex) then another xx,xx_ points for whatever I use the vouchers for

Thanks Qantas

Just out of interest, how much do you travel? That is $10K worth of travel when you can only use a max of $500 on any flight (internationally $500 on any return flight because it doesn't make sense to purchase two one ways plus you can't use it ex non-Oz). Either you own your own business and do a lot of travel with that or you much do an enormous amount of leisure travel.

You are really living up to your screen name!!

Agree. I've said what if I bought a non-refundable Qantas sale fare with the card and then cancelled. Qantas generate a voucher that can be used for future flights. It's almost the same situation - use the voucher + CC top-up. Will have another go with Zurich. It's important to know for sure. They cover a lot of cards! Credit and Debit Card Insurances

Its Ok to book a dom. flight for two total cost $700 and use one $500 voucher and pay for balance?.

Yep, $60 fee for a 5000 point bonus and $30 cc fee saving.
The other option is no voucher and a $30 fee if done online, so if you have a straightforward LONE4 booking just do it yourself otherwise if you need assistance, it would be $30 plus $60 without a 5000 point bonus.

No - the voucher must have the correct number of PAX for the booking. e.g. could use one $250 "2 PAX" voucher costing $500.

Bought $500 voucher yesterday. It took a bit longer for the Booking Reference (the voucher) to come through, but that is okay... sometimes they take a bit longer.

Booked my flight... value $139, and didn't have to pay anything additional. As expected, got a message to say the remaining value will be issued on a new voucher.

Still haven't received my itinerary for the flight, which is longer than usual. It usually comes through within a few hours later, but sometime longer, so that's sort of okay.

Still haven't received the new voucher. I want to keep using the voucher to book some more flights.

Rang QFF Premium Desk. It took a little while, a few internal calls, and a call back, and it seems that ticketing are still trying to work out how to handle this new arrangement! Hahaha... gotta love that when one part of the organisation comes up with a plan, changes a product, terms and conditions etc., but may have failed to communicate further down the track to ensure it can be enacted/put in place. Apparently, a meeting is taking place right now to work out how to handle this.

Anything wrong with buying separate vouchers (say 3) and then have either a single, a double or a triple booking (= 1, 2 or 3 pax booking) ?

Or travelling together requires a single voucher with 2 or 3 or 4 pax names on it ?

Put it in other words, would a booking for 3 pax require 1 voucher (with 3 names) or could it be 2/3 separate vouchers ?

Thanks

AFAIK the name(s) on the voucher must match the travellers names on the booking, I dont think you can have a voucher and add a name to your for instance.

Suppose I wish to make a booking for three pax to travel together on one single PNR.

Now, could I then use 3 separate vouchers (each with the individual pax name, not just mine) and still remain a single PNR.

Or would it then splinter into 3 separate PNRs ?

Anyone has done it this way ?

I am uncertain of the number of pax travelling together - that's why.

Separate vouchers give me more options.

Thanks again

You cannot combine PNR's.

Three vouchers would be your best option.

Note that seat selection may then require a bit more work if one of the PAX has higher QFF status than another - it's easier if they are all on the one PNR.

Points plus pay is incredibly bad value...
Going off-piste from the thread here, but could you please explain? I have been in the habit of getting lowest point JASA's, sliding back to minimum points and paying for the rest in $$. Am I wasing points/money?

A JASA is not points plus pay per se, its using points instead of paying $$$ as part of what normally would be a normal fare booking that is the poor value.

I get you. Thanks. I would look at that as Pay Plus Points and I agree, very poor value.

I had a similar experience. Booked a flight using a voucher on Wednesday. Called QF this morning. Just one phone call and had the ticket before lunch. Got the voucher for the remaining $5 mid afternoon.

Still haven't received my ticket or updated voucher with remaining value. I hope they fix this and speed up the reissue process. I often book multiple flights together so don't want to have to wait hours/days for the voucher to be reissued.

Does anyone know if you can use these vouchers on those 24hour business class sales?

Also, if there's an online only 24 hour sale what happens? Does the website take the voucher? If not, will the call centre match the price?
