EDR General Promotions

Question for your gurus out there and apologies if this has already been answered.

I have a Woolies credit card as well as having my EDR set up to receive QFF.

I noticed often that Woolies will have a promo in store eg. (During weekend spend $100 receive 20c fuel discount.

Now my question, sounds logical but unsure since i get conflicting information from the store managers and most recently EDR customer service but am I better off NOT scanning my EDR to at least receive the fuel discount as a paper voucher? It's obviously double dipping but I keep scanning my EDR, receipts says its loaded onto my EDR but I haven't been able to use the fuel discounts which is also loaded on the app.

Seems silly to scan your EDR during these weekend promotions in woolies with a higher spend to receive fuel discounts if your account is set up to only receive QFF, right? Lol.

I was also told by a store manager that these weekend fuel offers should work in conjunction with whatever has been set up be it QFF/ or fuel vouchers which defiantly did not work when I tried to fill up!

Actually for about 6 months I was receiving both QFF/ and loaded fuel discounts but obviously things have changed since then and since the QFF offers have dried up it doesn't seem like a very good incentive to take advantage of the fuel discounts or even scan my EDR when special weekend promos are available in store.

In your Everyday Rewards account you have the option to use fuel vouchers to receive discounts, or split the discount by half and get points on how many litres you've purchased. Perhaps you're getting more points on fuel instead of discounts on fuel.

That said, if you get a second EDR card and link it to your first, it will share the fuel discounts and then you can use one for discounts and one for points. Just label them.

Sadly I don't fill up at the Woolies servos, only pour $50 per fortnight with the misses car so I don't take advantage of the fuel offers as much as I would with QFF but when I do eg. The promo deals on weekend with bigger fuel savings and its for a shop I need then I will take advantage of the fuel offer.

There really is no incentive to scan my EDR (QFF optioned card) it appears I am better off just taking the paper voucher and redeeming it that way.

Second EDR card is what we have however because I do most of the running around I really don't want to have 'another' card in my wallet.

Thanks for your input!

But if you don't scan the EDR card in the first place you'll only earn points on the CC spend and not double dip over $30?

The fuel vouchers loaded onto your card have the same validity as the paper vouchers, so if you don't fill up often and don't use woolies servos, then I don't understand?

Wow I had a bit of a brain fart there. I only scan my EDR card and pay with Amex. Sorry I've confused myself and you guys.

I somehow completely managed to confuse myself, I think as someone mentioned earlier, I can just link my other halfs EDR card to my Woolies credit card.

My main issue was that Woolies promotes these special promo 20c fuel discount over the weekend for $100 spend. Generally in-store advertisement, or in the Saturday paper however I get conflicting information from both store managers and EDR customer service team that they should work in conjunction. But it appears I am over thinking it a little too much and will just go crawl into my little hole.

I've just linked my other halfs card and will just have to make sure we scan her card in future.

don't worry. these schemes DO require time and effort to fully understand (or at least partly understand) and the forum here is extremely helpful.
I would imagine that only a very small percentage of WW customers make a big effort. So good on you for taking the time to ask questions and work it all out. It may have been the VERY big effort of a few of us* that saw the QFF points marketers at WW scurry back to their spreadsheets for a while. And offer fuel discounts instead

*I am not claiming anything special for myself, but certainly not disassociating myself from anything either

I believe it has anything to do with the success of past offers, more so the failure from the fuel division to show growth like the other divisions have in the half yearly results.

yes I saw the figures on this thread :) The whole thing is fascinating.
And it is still fun to think that the points bank was broken by people who took time to understand the system and outsmart the marketing boffins. We have to have our urban myths :)

Not quite and ERD promo, but Starthere have 5.25% cash back for Dan Murphy's purchases. Combined with wish cards this is a decent saving.

10.25%* discount at Daniel Murphy is huge, thanks for posting this information here on AFF

* Assumes purchase includes payment made with 5% saving wish card...

Does anyone know if you can purchase the Optus Prepaid Broadband $130 recharge at checkout?? It's a great way to earn points.. 1+ instore, 2+ optus rewards + credit card points!

Off to visit my friends at the RAA today to get some more wish cards

I found somewhere where you can get 7.5% off Wish Cards until TOMORROW! $49.95 joining fee though, and max 6 cards can be purchased.
Still, you can save $225 on $3k worth of $500 gift cards for an outlay of $49.95.

MM looks interesting. Plus 7.5% off coles cards until tomorrow
Has anyone had any experience with this site?
I am hesitant. When I buy from RAA or through the Entertainment Book site I KNOW my cards will turn up.

Cheers! Word of warning; their office is closed Fridays. Also, in my experience when you order $500 WISH cards off small discounted website they can take 2-6 weeks to be delivered because only a very small percentage of their orders are for $500 cards. Does anyone have experience with them? Can someone who is a member do a dummy order to see whether they take Amex please?

Yep, more good questions.
For the moment I'll stick to proven providers but thanks to DeKa for bringing this to our attention.

Good find there DeKa... I would be using the Coles cards as WOW are on the nose for us at the moment. 5% off using Mrs Shintaro's staff card, then a further 7.5% off is really quite a large discount for such items...

I bought another over $8k of Wish Cards today from Woolworths directly using an Amex card. It is all a bit habit forming seeing Dans is opening soon not too far from home. I had better brush up on StartHere as 10.25% off in total sounds great.
