Yawn... These so called offers from Woolworths are so lame these days. Many of the offers are being falsely promoted as a bonus which is really stretching the meaning in my book...

The bonus used to really be a bonus as it was in addition to anything else that was happening at the time

WW then introduced https://www.everydayrewards.com.au/static/sites/rewards/offer/index.html which was the counter offer to Coles My 5, but in the process it seems that normal specials have dried up and replaced with the EDR specials. So nothing new, but people feel SPECIAL again.

It's all about making the customer feel good and impulse purchases

What WW is doing is smart and probably working for them, we just don't like it as I would say we are slightly more educated than the average shopper

Anyways, the fact that I am finding it harder and harder to get branded products in my local WW as so many items are getting replaced with the Select brand it's making me quite frustrated

So I am shopping around a bit more now, fruit/veg/meat never from WW anymore, always the local small business

Coles/IGA are my new favorites

Once again they could have given people the option...points or discount and simply nominate on your EDR account as one does with either QFF points or the fuel discount.

as I said before they are tossers and Hvr summed them up perfectly ( from our point of view)

 They've wiped so many great brands from the shelves:evil: The only thing we purchase from WOW these days is the product that we use for our wiping:D.......WOW, good for dunny paper & thats about it....as soon as kleenex or sorbent gets the cough - so will WOW;)

Select......well, I select to spend my coin elsewhere:!:

Typical greedy multinationals....push all smaller businesses into oblivion or make them sell their products for nothing...all in the name of ....MARKET SHARE... One day people will wake up that all choice is gone and it will simply be that people have caused it themselves by constantly buying cheaper Store Branded products rather than supporting small businesses.

When that happens there will be 2 choices.....COLES or WOOLWORTHS

Funnily enough back in 2005 I did an essay in a Uni exam on a question surrounding this very thing and predicted that what we are seeing now is exactly what would happen:!:

Yes I do not buy any Select or Homebrand products.
but I agree it is getting harder to find brands we have always liked to support.

i have a dairy farmer cousin and Coles and Woolies have all but destroyed them.

Mrs LW got the $10 off Big W offer, triggered but immediate feedback sent that the spend hurdle was too high to interest her.

Thank God for the occasional large fuel saving which I convert to bonus points. My 24c one I used to buy 47 litres, so 12 x 47 = 564 plus CC 1.5x. Very similar to the old 500 point bonus offers.

Next one on the card is 10c, so 5x and akin to the old 250 bonus point offers. Then the 4c ones at 2x are like the old 100 bonus point offers to me.

It's the only thing keeping me clinging to EDR - still haven't succumbed to Coles yet.

Recently was talking with some guys that have their own brand, that they have on the shelf at WW. They also on the side do Select and Macro stuff for WW. They reckon WW treat them quite ruthlessly when it comes working out deals but it would be worse if they didn't have their own brand. They asked what can they do about WW squeeze their ever shrinking margins. I suggested they band together with other manufacturers to fight WW. However Coke IIRC had problems with WW. So if the Coke group are having problems imagine a small food producer? Just look the guys from Rosella who went bust the other day!

Until the marketing professionals realise that they are missing out on a lucrative subsection of the population most of us will be shopping elsewhere.
I don't think Woolworths cares too much about the person who tries to spend the least amount of $$ for their bonus points. They are just not interested in that type of business.

But I do agree they should be rewarding people who are continually spending big at their supermarkets not offering someone 250 bonus points for $1.68 spend.

Funnily enough my wife and daughter had to drive to a nearby country town today about 30 km away that has a COLES ( we only have Safeway in our area). Whilst there they did the food shopping at COLES.

My wife's comment was, the aisles are a lot wider and they have a lot more variety, the prices are better and they have a lot of the " good old" brands etc,

I think my wife and daughter will now drive there every 3 weeks to do a single BIG shop, have a mother & daughter day out together etc, so looks like it is FLYBUYS now for us and GOODBYE SAFEWAYS & EDR

How stupid is that.....encouraging us to drive 30km ( 60 km round trip) to discover there is something better. If they had kept the points coming they would have kept us in the dark and continued to extract our dollars.

Surely we are not the only ones ??

They must be being run by total tossers, no wonder COLES figures are increasing and some of these COLES offers look rather good = 3 x points this weekend.

Nope I have been shopping at Coles more and I do like that their shevles are not being overtaken my house branded products like Select

I wanted to buy some cream for a early xmas pudding to treat myself tonight, Woolworths had 4 varieties of Select branded brand cream double cream etc and only 1 non-Select brand product

Disgusting!

I just wonder what result some of these trolley runs had on the possibility of earning QFF points with EDR
I think they had a part to play in it.

Surely someone at Woolworths would have looked at points paid vs revenue and if there was a significant increase in revenue why would they stop bonus point offers?

We've found the same and are SPENDING more at Coles and subsequently Coles express , first choice etc

Because they think they can manipulate the market and also control the fuel sales as well !!

I am guessing the brands pay for the bonus points or WW pays for the points? Either if your are a small shopper or shopping for a big family you are getting screwed in terms value when you can easily earn many points at Coles now.

Just completed my first invited (via email) on-line survey for WOW.

Vented on the removal of many wonderful brands......being replaced with lousy select:evil: and the general state of my local store, staff & lack of open checkouts.

IMO, WOW is a brand on the decline.......the beast that feasts on pushing alcohol & pokies doesn't deserve very much sympathy!

I dislike WOW, but I like the easy QFF....

Lets say I love to hate them...but I hate Flybuys even more...!

Edit: To qualify my comments, I really dislike WOW currently in regard to the lack of bonus point offers over the past 3 months, hopefully they soon see the light and bring back the bonii booty...
